Going for good

Sparta stretched her legs, then walked out of her bed. She walked towards the kitchen to go to the flap on the door to go outside. Her Tallpeople were already awake, and she mewed a greeting. Once outside, she jumped up on the wood fence and stared beyond her home. Trees were flooding the land, and they seemed to go on forever. Sparta smelt the forest smells coming to her. Would it be best if I left? What about Minka? Minka was black-white she-cat with amber

eyes, also Sparta's friend. They have known each other since they were kits, and used to play together in the garden. They swore they would be together forever, so would that mean that Minka would follow Sparta wherever she went?

"Hi Sparta!" Minka said, from the garden beside her.

I want to go to the forest. I'm tired living cooped up in some cage where I can't go anywhere else than my territory, Sparta thought. I'm going. Normally Sparta would greet her friend by calling her up on the fence, but not this time. She was going to have to break the news to Minka once she got on the fence. Sparta looked at her friend, then looked away. Minka narrowed her eyes with confusion and walked to the fence. She jumped up and landed gracefully.

"Why are you like this, today?" Minka said. " You didn't say hi to me like you usually do".

Sparta looked at her puzzled friend with green eyes full of sorrow. She hated doing this.

"I-I'm leaving", Sparta stammered. "I'm going to the forest, to live in the wild".

Minka stared wide-eyed with suprise at her old friend. "What? You can't do that!" Minka exclaimed.

"I will. I'm tired of living with Tallpeople where I can't go on my own and explore the world. I'm stuck here."

"Then I'm coming with you" Minka declared.

Sparta looked at her friend. She was so sad of leaving her, and now she decided to come with her. She purred and rubbed affectionly Minka's shoulder. Minka started purring too.

"What do you think I would do, let you go and then I would be sad the rest of my life?" the black-white she-cat said.

" I just never thought you would come with me" Sparta replied.

The two she-cats walked carefully the top of the fence to the end of the gardens, where the woods lay.

" 'Course, I will miss my bed", Minka said.

"Me too" Sparta admitted.

They took one last look at their home. They would leave the place of their kithood, and never come back to live here again. They then looked back to the forest. They walked the last lenght of the fence, then jumped into the unknown world ahead of them.
