"Archiekins! We need to talk, now!" Veronica Lodge slammed the door to her boyfriend's bedroom.

"Jeez, Ronnie, what's got you all fired up?" Archie sat up stared at his girlfriend. He was so lucky, Veronica was amazing, yet he still couldn't help wanting more.

"Betty and Jughead, that's what's wrong."

"She's actually with him?" Archie asked disgusted.

"I saw them at the Whyte Wyrm party together. Then after the fight with Reggie, I saw them in the Blue & Gold room kissing," Veronica sighed.

"Are you a stalker, Ronnie?" Archie chuckled, pulling his girl closer to him, "You know, I can make you forget about them." He pulled her closer and teased her lips, wanting more from her, but she pulled away.

"It just doesn't make any sense, Archie. Betty's smart, she is a good girl, and she doesn't do things like this. So why, of all the people in Riverdale, does Betty fall for Jughead Jones?"

"I don't know Ronnie. But we're not them. We're us, and right now, we are here. So don't you want to do something?" He went up to her and started playing with her hair, trying to engage her in something more fun than this conversation.

"Oh, Archiekins, when will you learn? When something is getting in the way of Veronica Lodge, she gets rid of it." Veronica strutted away, leaving Archie wanting more of the girl.

Right next door, Betty Cooper sat in her room, staring out the window, waiting for Jughead Jones to arrive. Sure, he wasn't supposed to come over, but Betty was hoping that he would. She had never felt this way for anyone before. Sure, there was her silly, childhood crush on Archie Andrews, but that never meant anything. It was childish, and lasted for one summer. She was only in love with the idea of being with Archie, the idea of being in this perfect relationship. But she wasn't perfect. She was broken, but being with Jughead, made that brokenness go away for a while. Was it love? Betty wasn't sure yet. But she knew she cared about Jughead. and that was never going to change.

While she was deep in thought, a knock sounded on her window. She turned to see Jughead leaning against her bay window. Betty smiled and ran to open her window.

"Hey Juliet. Nurse off duty?" He said. She laughed.

"She's never off duty, Romeo." Betty played along.

"God, you're beautiful, Betty."

"Where did that come from?"

"What? Can't I tell my beautiful girlfriend that she's beautiful?"

Betty stopped in her tracks. Jughead was fully in her room now, looking around at the suffocating pale pink.

"What did you say?" She asked him in amazement.

"That you're beautiful?"

"No, after that."

"That you're my girlfriend? Is that not okay? Cause if its not, you don't have to be. I just thought that, you know, because we've kissed and stuff, that like you're my girlfriend." Jughead stammered. He nervously started itching his neck, waiting for Betty to respond.

She took a step closer to him and put her delicate hands on his beautiful face.

"Jughead Jones, I'd love to be your girlfriend."

He looked at her, something in his eyes that Betty had never seen before. He looked vulnerable, like telling her that he wanted to be her boyfriend was the first thing he'd done to express his emotions in a long time. He also looked relived. But the strangest thing Betty saw in his eyes, was love. She had never seen love in his ocean blue eyes, but yet it was there when he looked at her. All too soon, he blinked, the emotions draining from his eyes, and his face back in his normal resting position.

"Betty Cooper. You're something else." He leaned down, and he kissed her. It wasn't a violent, I-want-more-of-you kiss, it was a kiss full of love, something Betty Cooper never knew could come from the beanie-wearing boy.

The next day, Betty's alarm clock beeped, interrupting her dreams. She got up out of bed and roamed through her closet. Betty was nervous. This was the first day she and Jughead would be an official couple. She wanted to dress to impress him, but also keep some of her Cooper perfection in her outfit. Eventually, she chose a beautiful, flowy, pink dress with black roses on it. She paired it with black boots, and a nice, natural makeup look. Putting her hair in a half-up, half -down hairdo, she looked over herself in the mirror. She loved the outfit, but she hated her body. She hated her thighs that pooled together and her legs that always seemed hairy. She hated how her stomach wasn't totally flat, and that with her hair pulled back, her face looked especially chubby. Betty didn't see the ribcage peeking through her bare skin, or how to everyone else, she looked dangerously skinny. Betty only saw her insecurities. After a few more minutes of self-criticism, Betty grabbed her backpack and ran out the door, where Jughead was waiting with his motorcycle. He saw her and he stopped in his tracks.

"Damn, Betty. Are you trying to impress me?" He smirked at her. She blushed under his blue eye gaze and looked away.

"Do you like it?" She asked meekly.

"Baby, are you kidding me? I love it. You look so fucking beautiful." He kissed her passionately, and then they hopped onto his motorcycle. They drove to school, never once breaking their little bubble. They had no idea what was to come.
