4 months is what it's been since she's talked to me; or Actually had a conversation with me. Dry kisses when i go off to practice. Awkward glances when we have friendly gatherings or when we go to Charlie's hospital appointments. She barely talks to anyone, hardly eats.
I'm sitting here on the kitchen counter as she makes brunch for our friends and parents who are coming over. She's wearing boyfriend jeand and a white long sleeved sweater. Her hair is braided down her back.
" Should i get Charlie ready or do you want me to give you some help? " I ask and hop off the counter. She just shrugs and sets the plates on the dining room table.
" I already dressed her and the food is done so you can just watch the game or whatever. " She says and i sigh and stand blocking her way. " I need to change. "
" You look fine babe. " I say and she sighs in frustration. " You know i don't think we should keep having people over if we aren't even going to talk Haven. " I say and she crosses her arms.
" And then what huh? " She asks. " I'm gonna act like nothing ever happened, like I'm fine and all happy! " She says with a big fake smile. " Well guess what I'm not. "
" You make that pretty clear now don't you? " I say angrily. " Walking around here, i get Haven. We lost a baby. We could've had a son but it didn't work out. And there is nothing we can do. " I say raising my hands in surrender.
" You dont understand! " She screams and puts her palms on her temples and starts to cry. " You don't- You wont ever understand. " Ding dong.
" I'm gonna tell them that today isn't a good day. " I say and she pulls my arms back.
" I'm fine just let me wash my face. " She says and walks off.
I sighed and walked over to the door. As soon as i opened up everyone walked in. My mom was here and even Katia Haven's mom came to visit. We all sat around the table for some early dinner.
" Where's Haven? " Aria asked swaying her three month old new mop head in her arms. " Want her to see that he's wearing the shoes she bought him. " Aria says and smiles down at her son.
Those aren't shoes that we bought her, their shoes that my son was going to wear. But i didn't have the heart to tell her.
" She uh- she's in our room. " I say and the girls and our mom's all skip off to our room. " I need some alcohol right now. " I groan and walk to the kitchen, the guys laugh and follow me.
" I brought some Jack just because i know my mom will try and find a way to convince me of giving Josiah a haircut. " Hunter said raising the bottle of Jack Daniels in the air.
" And I'm gonna get a big boy cup because it's the first time in a month that Jay and i are in the same confined space. " Jared said rolling his eyes and filling his cup.
" Oh right man, how's that going? Still on a break? " I ask and he shrugs and takes a chug.
" First the accident, then the hidden abortion, i though she had changed but she's always gonna find a way to put me down. " He says and keeps throwing it back. " I mean look at me it isn't even 7 and I'm gonna drink Sophia's weight in liquor. "
I laugh. " Can you believe Howey and Aiden are actually a thing now? " Embry asks. " I talked to Howey this morning i said 'hey remember it's Sophia's birthday tomorrow' and he goes 'yeah I'll be at the beach house as soon as i pick up Aiden'. "
" Well theyre happy and i guess that's what matters. " Hunter says and takes another big chug. " How's my baby sister kid? " He asks and pats my back.
" I don't know you ask her. Won't even sit next to me. Has this thing were if i even mention what happens she's crying and freaking out. " I sigh and run a hand through my hair. " I love her i do, but I'm scared. "
