They climbed down the well and entered the sewers. Charlie's heartbeat fastened as memories kept returning to her. As they walked deep in, the grey water was up to their knees.
As they moved throughout the tunnels, they turned a corner and found the room where they thought they defeated it. The floating kids were no longer there, nor was the circus box in the middle or the kids belongings.
The grey water reached up to their chests when they entered. Charlie was behind the group when she heard a voice behind her.
"Hey, bitch" she heard a males voice whisper. It sounded a lot like Bowers.
She turned but she didn't see anyone,or anything.
"Charlie what is it?" Mike asked her. She turned back to them and saw they were all on the rock.
"I thought I heard-"
But she couldn't finish because a hand tightly wrapped itself on her ankle and pulled her into the water. She screamed before she was taken down.
"Charlie!"
Mike's heart dropped when he saw her go underwater and he jumped in. The rest of the friends jumped in the water to help her but Eddie stayed put. Charlie looked below her and saw the kid from the park pulling her deep into the water. The girl was hysterically laughing as she dragged her deeper into the water. Charlie tried kicking her off but she was impossible.
Mike and Richie reached her as they each grabbed her arms and tried to grab her. Beverly tried to separate the hand from her ankle and Bill and Ben were kicking the girl.
"Guys please don't let me do this alone" Eddie cried at the top. He waited from his friends to come out of the water and they did.
Charlie gasped out for a breath when she reached air. Mike was holding her in both his arms and he held her safely in his grasp. She was shaking uncontrollably but her body felt stiff. Her eyes were opened wide as she starred all around her, as if she wasn't sure what was going on, she was scared. She muffled in air through her nose and the small opening of her mouth as she gripped her hands onto Mike, not wanting to let go.
"Charlie hey, you're okay" Mike told her. "You're okay"
He calmed her down and her breathing was slowing down to a normal rate. She looked at Mike and a tear spilled. Mike held her tightly and he knew he wasn't going to let her go again.
Richie grabbed her black baseball cap that was floating on the water and put it on her head.
"Mike where do we go from here?" Bill asked him.
They all mounted on the rock and found a closed opening in the middle. Mike opens it and reveals a rocky pathway down. Bill, Ben and Mike start climbing down and so was Beverly but Eddie was freaking out.
"Guys I can't do this. You saw what happened up there, I was gonna let you die, I froze up" he told Richie.
He started gasping and he took out his inhaler. Richie grabbed his hand and tried to make him let it go.
"Let go you little turd" he said. He struggled as he tried to get the inhaler. Eddie fought back and blew a gust of air into his mouth.
"Yeah yeah yeah" Richie shone his flashlight into his eyes and made him let go of the inhaler.
"Who killed a clown at fourteen?" Richie asked him.
"Me" Eddie said.
"Who stabbed Bowers with his own knife?"
"Also me"
"Who married a woman three times his weight?"
Eddie looked at him but replied in confidence.
"Me"
"You're braver than you think" Richie said, patting him on the back.
Beverly have Eddie a sharp rod and said, "It kills monsters"
"Really?" he asked.
"If you believe it does"
