I finally had dropped off my paperwork to Bisky and was on my way back to the apartment. When I was inside, I took off my shoes and dragged myself to my room. I picked out a pair of fitted grey joggers, a dark green long sleeve, and some boxers before walking over to the bathroom across the hallway. Before I did so, I realized that I hadn't brought any towels and I had no idea where they were. As if it were on cue, Kite opened the door, carrying three bags of groceries. I quickly went over to help him unpack the food and necessities and when he saw me, he gawked at me.

"What happened to you, you look like you were hit by a bus." He looked me up and down and I looked over myself too. My knee was still bleeding but more profusely, and seeped into my jeans, creating even darker marks down my pant legs even though they were black. My white shirt was turned a gross grey from the murky water and clung to my body uncomfortably. There was dirt stuck to my hands from falling to the pavement not once, but twice and I hadn't noticed before but my windbreaker had a small tear in the collar where the boy pulled me from.

"Not a truck, but almost by a Honda Civic with a knock-off satan at the wheel." I pulled my hand through my hair, little droplets formed on my hands from my wet hair. Kite said nothing but looked extremely confused.

"You need to take a shower because, uh, wow." I laughed slightly at his remark. Then a thought popped into my head that the stranger who saved my life saw me in this ugly state and I suddenly felt embarrassed but I didn't know why.

"Do you have any towels I could use?" He nodded and walked me over to the bathroom, opening a cabinet and pulling out two blue towels for me.

"Thanks." I said as he walked out. I shut the door and turned on the shower. I stepped inside after stripping myself of the wet and musty clothes and putting them in the sink to avoid getting anything else drenched with the disgusting water. I've always liked cold showers, just something about them made my body feel more awake and alive, and I loved that feeling. The cool water pooled at the top of my head and flowed down my back, arms, chest, and legs and it felt great. Getting clean after being stuck in wet jeans and a t-shirt was truly euphoric.

After a while, I finished and stepped out, drying my body with a towel before wrapping it around my waist and drying my hair. I slipped on my clothes and waltzed into the kitchen, feeling better after getting clean. I found Kite sitting at the kotatsu reading again. He had noticed me and looked up, closing his book over his finger in the process.

"How'd turning your paperwork go?"

"Uh, it was...eventful to say in the least."

"Oh? And would these 'events' pertain as to why you were filthy earlier?" He put air quotes around the word events and slightly raised his eyebrow, signaling he was intrigued by my answer.

"Maybe..." I trailed off, remembering the silver-haired boy who saved me earlier.

"Are you going to tell me or leave me with a cliffhanger?" He sighed. I sat down at the kotatsu and wrapped myself under the blue blanket that protruded from the sides. It reminded me somewhat of a warm waterfall, and Kite had the heater running underneath it, making it even warmer. I started telling him about what had happened earlier, me falling and losing my paperwork, the stranger saving me, the angry driver, and how I turned in my paperwork finally at the cafe. The entire time, Kite listened attentively, not looking bored or annoyed with my constant rambling. Usually, people roll their eyes at my incessant talking so I was happily surprised by his response. It made me feel at ease with him.
