A few days after I convinced Carlos to allow me to return to Milan and prove myself to his team. Carlos had someone show me around the company building while he was away, her name is Ria, "Upstairs is where all the legal stuff happens." She explained as she showed me around the different sections, "There's an underground unit where the pre-action happens,  there's spar boxing, throw knives, shoot, there's also have a pain tolerance test."

"I'm not very good with Knives." I made sure to mention, this place is like an Academy for martial arts.

"That's okay. I'm sure you're good at other things. What's your specialty?"

"I fight."

"Great. ... Me too, but I'm not very good."

We laugh,

"So how long have you been working here?" I asked as we walked.

"A year, I just run the legal business. The boring stuff, but I like it. You know you're very lucky, it's either that or you're really good at what you do..."

"How so?"

"They usually don't enroll women. Sonia is the only extra female around here, she was recruited by the boss." We walked into a room, "Sonia, this is--"

"Eva." Sonia supplies, I haven't seen her in a while.

"Good, you two know each other."

"Yeah, we've met," I added. Carlos's Ex, how can I forget?

"Great, Sonia is going to fill you in on everything else, see you around." Ria turns around and leaves, I took my eyes around her office.

"Cute office."

"Don't act gullible with me, Eva. . I don't trust you and I don't think you belong here, you're about to prove it."

I laughed shortly,

"Where's everyone?"

"Don is in Pavia, but you already know that. " She rolls her eyes and starts walking out of the office, "Follow me." She said, I followed her behind, and she kept talking all the way, "We don't accept female recruits, but I guess you're one of those rare exceptions."

"Weren't you a rare exception?"

"What was that." She stops and turns,

"I said great.." I cringed.

She snorts and continues walking, and talking,

"Miles in charge of new recruitments, impress him and you're in."

She takes me down the underground department. I heard groaning on the first step, it sounded painful as though someone was enduring something unpleasant,

"Where are we?"

"If you have to ask you should just leave now."

I snorted,

The groaning became even louder as we continued, and stopped in front of a large door, Sonia swiped it open with a card.

I should have probably backed away, or insisted I waited for Carlos to come in, but I didn't, I walked in and came face to face with Miles as the blade of his knife cut deep into a young man's torso.

We both screamed in pain and horror. There was so much blood that my knees had become weak and my back had fallen against the wall.

The man who was on his knees with his hands tied behind his back and duct tape on his mouth had wide eyes as he watched Miles pick up a gun and Without a word he swiftly held the gun to the man's head and pulled the trigger.
