Eva

I walked in to grab some coffee at the shop before leaving to return to the training grounds when I got the call.

I tossed the coffee in the bin and dashed home.

When I got home I saw a bunch of people, including Miles and Luis sitting on the silver chair outside Carlos's room, they all looked worried.

"Where's Carlos?"

"We don't know yet, the doctors are inside." Luis was the first to pay me any attention.

"What happened?"

"He just fell... We were asked to wait."

I did wait, but I became a wreck after a while, pacing back and forth. I know I said all those things about fear and courage before, but in truth I was terrified, I was fucking horrified.

There is no way I could survive him not ever waking up. I have tested being away from him and it was hell,  I can't go through that again.

"You know this is all happening because of this woman," Sonia yelled out all of a sudden, I didn't even notice her when I came in.

"Leave her alone, Sonia." Luis injected.

"This American just showed up in our lives and nothing is the same anymore."

Carlos's grandmother and father were there too, they all turn to me when they heard Sonia's voice.

"It's your deceit that's responsible for all of this, this is all your fault. ..If anything happens to him, you will have me to contend with. Eva, you pray he makes it out alive."

I lean white wall and slide down to the floor, suddenly feeling like I can't breathe.

I tried to blink away the tears that were blurring my vision but they refuse to go away, grandmother walks over to me and pulls me into her arms.

A doctor in a white coat walks out the room, looking down at his board. "Is he okay?" Miles asks the doctor.

The doctor looks at us sadly,

"I'm sorry."  The doctor muttered and my mind went into a racket. A stared at the doctor, shaking my head.

No. No. No. No. Please, no.

"This can't be all happening.." I broke away from grandmother and hurried towards the door.

This can't be happening.

"Eva, calm down and let me finish." The doctor tried to stop me.

"No, don't you dare stop me." I screamed, "He is not gone. Carlos is not gone! He won't just leave me like that! I know he's in there and he's fine....he's alive and his heart is still beating and--" My world was just tumbling into pieces.
