Chapter 24

Speaking of happy, you should've seen me the day Ryan was released from the hospital.

But my full-on happiness dropped back to halfway after we got to the airport in a taxi. Driven by Ryan, of course.

We were standing outside of the airplane. For some reason, there wasn't a long hallway leading to the airplane. Mr. BTM, Alan, Charlie, Kim, Ryan, and I were all standing out on the runway. And I was about to walk up the steps of the airplane, like the President.

I was crying already, just looking at everyone that had come to say goodbye. Ever since I've gotten here, I've been crying more. Pfft, that'll have to change.

"Bye Charlie," I squeaked, throwing my arms around Charlie. He ruffled my hair, and I tugged on his red hair. We half-smiled at each other.

"G'bye, Kimmy," I said. We hugged each other, and Kim said, "Write me an e-mail. I don't think texts travel this far."

"Peace out, Mr.-- I mean, George," I said, smiling angelically. Mr. BTM saluted me and I saluted back. He patted me proudly on the shoulder.

"Don't make this harder than it needs to be," Alan warned as I stepped in front of him. I could tell he was about to cry by the way he kept blinking every five seconds.

"I won't," I said as I hugged him, "but you're like my big brother. How could this not be difficult?" And that was it. Alan burst into tears and let out loud, choking sobs. He carried me for a few seconds like a ragdoll, shaking me from side to side. I felt like I was gonna throw up.

Alan put me down, and I turned to Ryan. He was wearing his sunglasses, so I wasn't able to see his usually amused eyes. He was turned towards the sun, his arms crossed.

"Ryan," I said, clearing my throat. He glanced at me as if I were nothing.

"Stop pouting," I said, stepping closer to him.

"Who said I was pouting?" he said. He finally turned to me and stepped closer to me. I looked up at him, putting my chin on his chest. He wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up, so that I was inches away from his face. Our noses were touching.

Ryan closed the gap between our lips. He kissed me.

It was about time. We loved each other. We even said it out loud.

Yeah, I told him at the hospital.

My lips were burning, and I immediately turned to everyone else. They quickly turned around, whistling nonchalantly. I chuckled, looking back at Ryan.

"You'll be visiting, right?"

Ryan nodded.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," he said. I grabbed my suitcases off the ground.

"Goodbye, Ryan Adams."

"Goodbye, Jenna Kaylee," Ryan replied, kissing the top of my head.

And with one last wave to my favorite group of British people, I boarded the plane.
