chapter 27- m y m a f i a n i n t e r n
I quickly adjusted myself and I looked around for my table to see my father talking to the rest of my group and I could feel myself internally cringe because he's probably telling them about my childhood.
"And there was one time where she had peed herself and--"
"Yeah, my father will now be making his way to the parent chairs," I say and my father looks like he's about to argue but I raise an eyebrow at him and he pouts, leaving a kiss on my cheek before walking off to the chairs.
I turned to face the group and I could feel the slow smile appearing on my face as Diego's mouth was hung open with Luca and Sebastian looking at me like two proud parents. Diego doesn't hesitate to jump away from Sienna, trapping me in a bone-crushing hg and soon two other pairs of hands wrap around me. We finally pull away and Sienna and Valentina are just fangirling over some of the guys but Diego is too distracted to notice.
"You know, I actually thought you weren't going to come," Sebastian says and I nod. I wasn't going to come in the first place because I thought I couldn't do it, but I knew I didn't go through all that for a reason. Besides, I think my mother would really want me to go.
"Yeah well, here I am."
"But no one told me you looked this sexy, like how the hell did you change so much in two years?" Diego comments and Sienna's attention is automatically snapped back to us while she hits him in the arm.
"I mean I agree too, I thought you were talking about another girl," She says and we all laugh. It's only then I notice that Sebastian and Luca still have their engagement ring on but not their actual wedding ring.
"You guys didn't get married?" I ask them and they both smile.
"We couldn't get married without you, it just felt like there was a missing piece and Sebastian kept freaking out about how you'd have his head off if you weren't there," Luca finishes, and Sebastian groans while everyone else on the table laughs.
"Wait where's Mateo?" Valentina asks and I look around the couple of tables where the interns sat but he wasn't seen anywhere.
"Don't sweat it Maliyah, he's the valedictorian. He went to go prepare for his speech that's all," Diego comments but a few smiles are plastered on their faces and I can't help but question them but as soon as I'm about to the lights dim out completely ending the little bits of chatter that were scattered around.
I don't know why but I can feel myself at the edge of my seat and I feel myself being eager to see Mateo's speech. He had basically told me that he was in love with me but he hadn't actually said it. I mean maybe I had misinterpreted everything, but that's what my heart was telling me. My brain, on the other hand, wanted to throw an apple and dash the fuck outta here.

Romance"You're staring at him again," Valentina sighs. "Hm?" I responded, not catching on to what Valentina was inferring. She tugs on my arm and shakes her head, chuckling. "You were staring at Mateo." She takes a sip of her coffee, looking up at me. "I'm...
