After lunch ended, Dani headed to her next class. She was trying to navigate through the hall when she bumped into someone. She felt a zap go through her entire body, making her drop a book she was carrying.
"I'm sorry," Dani looked up to see Jasper standing in front of her. "I didn't watch where I was going."
"It's alright," Jasper chuckled, bending down to pick up her book.
Dani wanted to swoon over Jasper's southern accent, but decided against it.
"Here," Jasper smiled, handing her the book.
"Thank you," Dani smiled back at him, taking the book from him.
She paused though, noticing the initials on the inside of his forearm, DS. It was that moment when she noticed her shoulder was itching, to the point she had to tense her upper body to try to ignore it. She also noticed she was forgetting how to breathe again. She cleared her throat before looking back up at Jasper.
"I'm Jasper, by the way," He introduced himself.
"Dani," She chuckled, then she realized she couldn't ignore the itching any longer. "This may seem a little forward, but, what's your last name?"
"It's Hale," Jasper looked at her.
Dani tilted her head and narrowed her eyes, "Why do I feel like you're lying?"
"Probably because you're very intuitive," Jasper laughed. "My actual last name is Whitlock."
Dani then felt chills run through her body, her eyes widening. She noticed that the itching on her shoulder stopped. She was left completely breathless.
"I, uh, I have to get to class," Dani nervously said, walking past Jasper.
"Dani, wait," Jasper grabbed her arm. "We should talk about this."
She sighed in response then turned to look at him, "My last class of the day is Biology, in Mr. Molina's class. I have to leave 10 minutes early to turn in my schedule to the front office. Meet me in front of my class."
Jasper nodded and let Dani walk away. Throughout the rest of the day, Dani was thinking about Jasper. What was really bothering her was the fact that he lied about his last name, and his hand was cold to the touch. Well, maybe he was cold to the touch because Dani was still feeling chills in her body at that point.
Also, Dani couldn't shake the feeling that she had heard the name Jasper Whitlock from somewhere. Before she knew it, she was in her last class of the day and Mr. Molina was announcing that she could leave early.
As she left the room, she noticed that Jasper was leaning on the wall waiting for her. The two of them said nothing has the walked to the front office together. Dani turned in her schedule while Jasper waited outside for her. She exited the front office, and stood in front of Jasper. He took her hand and led her to a bench behind the school. The both sat down, trying to figure out what to say to one another. Dani then turned to face him.
