chapter one

Adeline watched as the Mandalorian walked away, looking down at the controls on his wrist. Glancing to make sure no one was watching, she runs up the ramp before the hatch begins to close. She takes a look around the spacious hull. It's bigger than she had imagined.

She walks over to a control panel and when she presses it, a gallery of weapons is revealed.

"What could one man need all these weapons for?" she mumbles aloud. 

Adeline presses the controls again to close the compartment. Suddenly, she hears the hatch begin to open again. She hides behind a crate and watches as a few bounty hunters walk on board with some carts. They collect a few people frozen in carbonate before the hatch closes again.

Adeline knew that she made the right choice. She chose the right ship. She found the right man. He could help her. He could protect her.

After exploring the ship, Adeline walks over to what looks to be the bathroom and hides inside. She needs somewhere to hide while she waits for the Mandalorian. He cannot know she is there until after the ship takes off.

She had been hiding for what felt like hours when she finally heard the hatch door begin to open again. The light clanking footsteps letting her know that he was finally on board. 

The Mandalorian sighed deeply before climbing up the ladder to the cockpit. Once Adeline knew he was up above, she slowly opened the door to the bathroom and exited out of it. She felt the movement of the ship jumping into hyperspace as she walked around the hull of the ship. 

She slowly turned around when she felt a sudden presence behind her. Instantly, she came face to face the Mandalorian. She drew in a quick breathe as the Mandalorian pushed her up against the wall and aimed a blaster at her head.

"Who are you?" said the modulated voice harshly.

"My name is Adele," she would never give away her real name to a stranger, especially with her true identity being too recognizable.

"What are you doing on my ship?"

"I've come to you seeking help and protection," Adeline's eyes glanced at the blaster pointed at her head before returning her gaze to the black slit of the Mandalorian's helmet.

He loosened his grip slightly on the girl, lowering the blaster, "I'm not a bodyguard."

"Please, Mandalorian, you are my only hope."

Mando sighs before letting go of the girl completely and stepping away from her, "How about you start by telling me why you're really here and we'll go from there?" His head tilts slightly as he looks intently at the girl in front of him. What could she need protection from?

He leads her up to the cockpit where he takes a seat in the pilot's chair and gestures for her to sit in the chair behind it.

"So, Adele, was it? Where are you from?" The Mandalorian spoke up.

"Corellia."

"Okay, and what brought you to my ship?"

Adeline looks down at her hands folded in her lap and doesn't respond.

"You've gotta give me something here. You can't just come on my ship asking for help but not tell me what you need help with. I have a job to do and you're wasting my time," the Mandalorian snaps. He spins around in his chair as the ship drops out of hyperspace. 

He is directing the ship towards a planet when she finally speaks up, "If I tell you, I need you to promise not to take me back. I can't go back."

The Mandalorian hears her but does not respond until he has fully landed the ship, "I cannot promise anything, I'm sorry. You can join me on this mission but when we return to Nevarro, you are on your own."

He stands up from his seat and heads down to the hull, Adeline not far behind. He grabs his pulse rifle and opens the hatch, walking down the ramp and looking at the land through his scope.

"I'm a runaway princess. Happy?" Adeline yells after him, throwing her hands up.

The Mandalorian drops his rifle and turns to her, "Excuse me, what?" But he doesn't get an answer. He is suddenly attacked by a blurgg who grabs on tightly to his arm, causing him to set off his flames. Mando grunts as he tries to fight off the creature while Adeline watches in fear. If the creature kills the Mandalorian, she will be all on her own again.

Suddenly, a shock dart flies through the air and hits the blurgg. The Mandalorian groans as he tries to pull his arm out of the creature's mouth. He stops his efforts when he hears a second blurgg roaring. Adeline notices the other blurgg charging towards the Mandalorian. Unsure what to do, she picks up the Mandalorian's dropped pulse rifle and aims it towards the second creature.

Before she can figure out how to even fire the weapon, the second blurgg is shot down with a shock dart. Adeline sighs loudly, "Oh, thank the Maker."

Adeline runs over to the Mandalorian as he pulls his arm free from the first blurgg, "Are you okay?" 

Mando stands up and snatches the pulse rifle from her hands, "Yeah, no thanks to you."

Adeline stands there with her mouth agape, unsure what to say. She wanted to help. She was going to try to help. The two are suddenly approached by an Ugnaught on the back of a third blurgg.

The Mandalorian looks up at the Ugnaught, "Thank you."

The Ugnaught nods his head in reply before saying, "You are a bounty hunter."

"Yes."

"I will help you. I have spoken," The Ugnaught turns his blurgg around and rides off, expecting them to follow.

Adeline looks at the Mandalorian who is still panting from his fight with the blurggs.

"Let's go," the Mandalorian says sternly before following after the Ugnaught.

What is it going to take to get the Mandalorian to help her?

a/n HI EVERYONE ya'll have no idea how excited I am to be writing this story. I read A LOT of Mando fanfics and I watch the Mandalorian over and over again so why not finally write a story?? I hope you guys end up liking this story.

just a lil info about the story, it will be majorly in Adeline's pov with it sometimes being third person. season one will be book one and I'll probably be making season two into book two but we'll see once it gets closer. and last but not least, the main character's name is Adeline but she tells everyone she meets that it is Adele in hopes that no one will recognize her as the runaway princess.
