The black convertible sped down the road, it wasn't me blasting through the speakers.
"But she caught me on the counter." Emily and Georgia sand out
"It wasn't me," Austin replied back
"Saw me bangin' on the sofa."
"It wasn't me"
"I even had her in the shower."
"It wasn't me"
"She even caught me on camera."
"It wasn-"The music was cut when Ginny leaned forward from the backseat and stopped the music. "Hey!" Georgia called out. "Sorry, do you guys think this song is appropriate for a nine-year-old?" Ginny snapped at them. "I think he's fine, Gin." Emily told her. "Yeah, he probably doesn't even know what it's about." Georgia agreed.
"You're really gonna side with her?" Ginny snapped at her mom. "Austin what's it about?" Georgia asked ignoring her daughter. "Doing it on the bathroom floor and getting caught," Austin told us. Emily burst out laughing. "Eyes on the road." Georgia laughed from the passenger seat. Ginny glared at the pair sitting back in her seat.
Emily laid on the trunk of the convertible as they waited for Georgia to leave the gas station. She frowned as she saw a police officer walking over, his eyes locked on Ginny. "Well, hello mister officer." She said with a fake grin jumping off the car. He looked over to the tall blonde pausing. "Good afternoon girls." He said awkwardly before going into the gas station. "Thanks," Ginny muttered putting back the gas tube.
"Was that racist?" Ginny asked Emily climbing into the driver's seat. The blonde sighed, "Guess we aren't leaving that back in the south." The girls then fell back into their usual silence.
Emily sat silently the rest of the ride to their new home. "Em, you okay?" Georgia asked after her kids ran into the house. "Yeah, just thinking 'bout him." She muttered. "Alright, well you bring your bags in." Emily gave her a weak smile climbing out of the car.
The blonde found the last open room quickly. "Thanks for leaving the smallest room." She shouted sarcastically slamming her door shut. Running a hand through her hair she started unpacking all of her bags.
"Pumpkin!" She heard Georgia say outside her door. "Come in." Georgia walked into the room with a large smile. "I got you a little something." She pulled out a small wad of cash. "Just pawned everything." Emily stared at the money with a blank face, thinking back to her father. "Oh, I thought you'd be happy." Georgia frowned sitting on the girls' bed. "I'm happy, Georgia." Emily lied with a smile. "Great, well I'll see you in the mornin'."
The teen girl smiled until Georgia was out of the room. A shaky breath left the girl's mouth when the door shut, tears pooling in her eyes. She stood up quickly, searching through her drawers. Quickly unscrewing the cap of a bottle, bringing it to her lips.
Emily sat in her window, looking into the half-empty bottle with a blank stare. "You okay?" A voice yelled below her. She snapped from her trance looking down, a boy her age stood in the yard beside theirs. "I'm great." She slurred back with a grin. "Okay enough to climb down here and let me have some of that?" He called back. She giggled screwing the cap back on the bottle before tossing it down to him. Attempting to climb out her window.
"Brayson." He told her once she steadied herself on the ground. "Emily." She answered. "What's got you drinking by yourself on a Sunday night?" He asked taking a swig. "Just normal teen girl problems, my dad died." She told him. His eyes went wide. "Oh, I'm so sorry."
She shook her head swiping back the bottle. "Don't be, he was a dick."
He chuckled. "Hey, kid!" Emily froze watching Georgia run across the street. "Get down." She whispered shouted to Brayson. "Whose that?" He asked. "My step-mom."
The two watched as Georgia pawned a bag of weed of the boy. "I think I'll like your mom." Brayson said standing back up. "You think you're gonna meet my mom?" Emily asked. "Oh definitely." He smirked. "Goodnight."
She rolled her eyes as the boy retreated back to his own house. "Night." She whispered back, with a smile, a real smile.
"Up and at 'em girls," Georgia called out waking up her daughters. Emily groaned covering her head with a pillow. "Now!" With a huff the blonde crawled out of her bed, changing into a cropped tank top and jeans.
"Whose driving?" She asked grabbing a piece of toast from Austin's plate. "Well I was hoping you could drive Ginny to school with you." Georgia said. Emily nodded, more distracted by tickling the younger boy who fought her back for the toast.
A nudge was sent to her side as Ginny walked to the front door. "Can we go now?" She asked impatiently. "I guess." Emily answered rolling her eyes.
"Can you stop playing fun big sister with him?" Ginny said once they were in the car. "Excuse me?" Emily said shocked. "I get you need everyone to like you, but he already has one so just back off." Ginny continued. Emily scoffed. "Get out." The younger girls eyed went wide. "What?" Emily sent her a glare. "Do you think I'm joking? If you hate me that much you don't have to ride to school with me. Out!"
Ginny seethed as she got out of the car, watching Emily drive away with a proud smirk. "Bitch." Both girls muttered.
