MERLIN'S POV
Fear.
I had never been so afraid to loose someone in my life.
We had rushed as fast as we could from Rapunzel's Cove all the way back home. The doctors there had confirmed that she needed to relax, and that any more pressure to her body and brain could result horribly.
Laying her gently on her bed, the seven of us gathered around her unconscious body.
Nothing.
We waited hours. One by one everyone left, until it was just me and Jack. I looked up at him.
"How are you feeling about all of this?" I asked.
"Weird," he replied, combing his fingers through his hair. "I mean, I actually have a sister...? But the other hand, she's supposed to cause chaos to the entire island?"
We both looked down at the sleeping body between us. Her face was so peaceful, so beautiful. So... unthreatening.
How could this prophecy be? It's ridiculous. She wouldn't hurt anyone if they didn't deserve it...
Maybe those in the prophecy did deserve it.
I was drawn from my thoughts as (y/n) stirred in bed. Jack and I both looked down at her, and her eyes fluttered open as if she was just waking up from a good night's sleep, not a traumatic, life-changing battle.
"Hmm.. what happened?" (Y/n) groaned. She started to sit up, but immediately winced and held her head. Jack and I supported her down so her head would be placed against the pillow gently.
"(Y/n), do you remember anything?" Jack asked, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Not really... wait- I remember Rapunzel's Cove... the ogres.. and.." her eyes widened, then slowly looked over at Jack.
"I think I'm.. your sister..?"
"I think so too," he replied, rubbing his temple with his fingers. "I've heard rumors about my dad having an affair a long time ago, and I didn't think it was true. I think you may have been the result of that, and that's why you were given away."
"So... I'm a princess?"
Jack stopped moving his fingers against his forehead, then looked at her. "Yeah," he chuckled. "I suppose that does make you a princess."
"Wow," she chuckled lightly. "I have a brother."
"And I have a sister."
They both laughed a little, then emotion took over (y/n). She gained enough strength to sit up and give her brother a hug. Jack seemed startled at first, but eventually eased up and hugged her back.
As they pulled away, (y/n) frowned.
"So if I'm the person the prophecy is talking about, then that means.. I'm supposed to experience something so traumatic that I destroy an entire city?"
The lot of us frowned, and (y/n) looked at me with pleading eyes.
She was scared.
Just a few hours ago she was just an orphan with no recollection of her origins and absolutely no super powers. Now, she had a brother, royal blood, and magical powers that allow creation.
Jack seemed to notice (y/n)'s discomfort, and he put his hand on her shoulder.
"Listen, I know we aren't as close as you and Merlin are-in fact I'm a little relieved we didn't get that close-" he chuckled, and (y/n) smiled slightly. I felt my cheeks heat up.
Jack continued; "But.. if you ever need anything at all, I'm here. I'll meet you guys downstairs for dinner."

After dinner, (y/n) was cleaning the dishes as usual when I got an idea.
"(Y/n)," I went over to her, taking the dish in her hand and putting in the tub. I took her hands in mine.
"Come with me."
"But, what about the dishes?"
I rolled my eyes. "You don't need to do the dishes every night, (y/n). The others can handle it."
"But-"
"Pino! Noki! Kio!"
The three boys popped their heads out from the dining room.
"Can you please take care of these?" I asked, and they all nodded, heading over to the tub and starting immediately. I looked back at (y/n) with a smirk. "They won't leave a single dish dirty. They're too precise for it."
Her worried look faded, and a smile crept to her lips. "Okay, where are you taking me?"
I chuckled slightly and replied, "you'll see."

(Y/N)'S POV
Merlin had led me back to the flower field where we had gone after the King's visit.
"There was no need to surprise me, we've been here already," I turned to Merlin, poking his nose. He turned to me slowly with a smirk, and my heart dropped. He started to chase after me, and I ran towards the field, screaming in fear and excitement. He finally caught up to me and tackled me to the soft ground.
Our laughter echoed off the hills surrounding the bright purple flowers. I didn't think that after all of this news I could feel as lightweight and happy as I did in that moment, but I did, and it was all thanks to the boy on top of me.
We soon sighed in relief as our laughter died down, and Merlin planted a sweet kiss against my lips before he lay down beside me. I felt his hand intertwine with mine.
I managed to peek up towards the sky and my stomach did a backflip.
"STARS!!" I squealed, breaking the silence and shooting my hand up to point to the sky. Merlin jumped a little but laughed slightly, looking where I had pointed.
"It's beautiful," he stated, and as I went to lay back down he let go of my hand and stuck his arm out so I could curl up next to him. He curled his arm around me, circling his thumb against my shoulder.
We stared into the night sky, the only sounds surrounding us being the chirping of far away crickets and our gentle breathing.
My head was swirling with thoughts, and I was still trying to wrap my head around all of the events of that day.
"Merlin?" His name slipped from my tongue without me even thinking about it.
"Yes, (y/n)?"
"This is a lot for me to take in.. I'm cursed. I have a brother, I'm in a royal family, I have powers." I turned my head to look at him, and upon hearing my head move against the ground he turned to face me as well.
"Can I ask you.. to promise me that you'll stay by my side?"
Merlin bit his lip and hesitated.
"(y/n)..."
As soon as my name slipped from his mouth I sat up. I knew that I would be a burden on him. "Sorry I asked, I knew I'd be a burden, this is a lot to dump on you all at once and I know you're just as confused and probably worried as I am, I mean what about the curse?! What if I-"
As my rambling went on I felt Merlin sit up beside me.
"(Y/n)." He said my name sternly, more firm than he had before. I looked over and was met with a dark, sultry gaze from his dark brown eyes.
Before I knew it Merlin's lips were met with mine. This kiss wasn't anything like how we had kissed before. It wasn't soft and gentle; the kiss was full of passion, and almost felt rough.
My back soon met the soft ground, and Merlin's fingers looped through mine, pushing them above my head, leaving me helpless.
We separated after a while to catch our breath, and Merlin's forehead rested gently against mine.
"(y/n)... I love you."
My heart leapt out of my chest, and my eyes shot open as Merlin climbed off of me. He pulled me with him, holding both of my hands in his.
"I feel like I've known this whole time, but I didn't want to mess anything up, that's why I hesitated. You've lit up my life in ways that I never thought was possible. You've proved to me in every single way that you are a perfect fit for the team, and not only that but you've proven yourself worthy of being a good person." He paused. "When I first heard of you, I was determined to bring you down and back to the king to be locked up forever, but immediately after taking that hood off of you I knew I'd never be able to bring myself to do it. You're something special, (y/n). And I've wanted to tell you for so long."
He looked at me once again with those deep eyes.
"I love you," he repeated.
My brain felt like soup. I had not only taken in my past, but my new future. Merlin loved me.
And I loved him.
I felt the strain on my cheeks as I smiled. It hurt, but I didn't care. I couldn't control it.
"I love you too."
And with that I leaned towards Merlin and took in his lips lovingly, entangling myself with him in the bright moonlight.
