MERLIN'S POV
The rest of the team insisted on coming with me to save (y/n), and since some extra help could be useful I allowed them to.
Getting past the giant wall separating King White's castle from the rest of Fairy Tale Island was the problem, but we were able to succeed with the help of Pino, Noki, and Kio's wooden robot.
The heist required an absurd amount of stealth. Jack's cloak was big enough to cover most of our bodies we decided to use it to our advantage.
Everything was going according to plan. The seven of us finally made it to the end of the castle where we presumed the dungeon was. A giant rock was stationed next to it, so we hid behind that.
"Alright, what's next?" I lifted the cape so I could get a good view of everyone's face.
"Simple. I distract the guards with my charming looks while you six get the lady," Jack purred, whipping his hand mirror out of who knows where to take a peek at his reflection.
Ignoring Jack's idea, Hans piped in; "I feel like we should figure out where (y/n) is before we do anything. Once we know where she is we can go about things easier."
"You're right, Hans," I nodded towards him. "(Y/n) has probably been through the dungeon well enough to know where possible escape routes and entrance points are."
"Well what are we waiting for?!" Arthur boomed, to which the rest of the team shushed him simultaneously.
"Arthur?"
We all turned to the meek voice.
(Y/n).
Her fingers delicately wrapped around the bars bearing into the ground to her basement cell, and her (e/c) eyes showed something I hadn't seen from her in a while: fear. They brightened at the sight of the group
"Merlin!" She cried out quietly, reaching her hand out.
"(Y/n)!" I whispered, nearly leaping over the boulder we hid behind to get to her reach, but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I met Hans's eyes and saw him lift a finger to his lips.
The ground thudded. I scurried back behind the rock in time to see the giant, bulky shadow reflect onto the ground. As soon as his presence was further away, I stuck my head out and checked both ways.
Clear.
I nearly tripped out behind the rock and made my way to (y/n)'s cell. Grabbing her hand, I held it close to my face and kissed her palm.
"I thought I'd never see you again," she sobbed, her mouth in a huge smile.
The boys followed suit, Arthur and Hans keeping watch around the rest of us.
"Do any of you have something that could pry these bars open?"
A beat, then Kio raised his hand.
He placed a hand on his cap to take it off, and before we could see what was underneath his brothers blocked our view to look at what Kio was looking at.
A few clings and clangs later, they re-emerged, all caps on, and Kio holding what looked like an iron pry bar. Did... did he pull that from his hat?
"Perfect!" Jack whispered, and we both moved out of the way to let the three work. Within seconds they all held up a bar to the cell, and Pino reached in to pull (y/n) out of her cell.
"Wait!" She held her hands up, rushing back into the cell. We couldn't see what she was doing, but after a few moments she came back. She took Pino's hand and hoisted herself out of the window.
We all took off, running as fast as we could. I could sense the triplets rummaging behind us, and soon enough a giant robotic hand emerged from behind the wall. It scooped us up from the ground, making it over the wall. The triplets freed themselves from its grip, acrobatically maneuvering their way to the seats designed for them to control their invention with. The robot turned around and ran into the depths of the forest.
After several minutes, the machine slowed down, dropping us gently to the ground. We all stood up, recomposing ourselves and brushing any dirt off our coats.
"Well," I breathed out. "King White is going to need some better security after this heist."
Before I could recompose myself, I was tackled to the ground. Familiar hands braced my back and I felt sweet, cold lips brush against my cheek.
(Y/n).
"Thank you thank you... I love you.." she whispered into my chest, and I couldn't help but feel as if I were back home. I wrapped my arms around her as well.
"I love you," I whispered back. I sat up and moved away, cupping her cheek. "But our work isn't over. King White's army isn't the smartest, but they'll catch on soon enough. We need a plan."
"You... you didn't have a plan for after this??" Arthur boomed, making his way over.
"I... I suppose not," I stuttered. "I thought I'd figure it out by the time we got her back."
Jack walked up to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and looked at me with a frown.
He knew what we needed to do. I think we all did, and we knew the risk when we decided to save (y/n).
"We need to leave Fairy Tale Island," I spoke, and the silence hung heavy in the air.
"Let's do it."
I looked over to the voice, and (y/n) had a huge smile on her face.
"Look, I can't thank you all enough for saving me, but you helped me and sacrificed your reputation here for me. Let me do the same for you."
Us seven looked at each other and slowly formed smiles.
We were in.
~*~
TWO YEARS LATER
Since we all left Fairy Tale Island, everything was perfect.
We had relocated to another land across the globe from the horrid place. We had received news about their progress, however, and learned that the curse was true.
(Y/n) caused destruction to the town by bringing us with her. The island scrambled to find protection, and it caused chaos.
However, it was our choice to go. We would never blame (y/n) for what had happened. If anything, we thank her for the new life she brought to us.
Hans opened a bakery in the town we found. It became a hit, and the people in town offered their services in return. We eventually found a home big enough for all of us.
Arthur made his living as a traveler, trying to find a new Excalibur. It took a hot minute for him to get back into his groove without seeing the sword for so long, but he made it work.
The twins kept making their inventions. They helped so many people in town with their regular everyday work, and soon enough the village became a prosperous trading site for people all around the world.
As for me? Well, I'm glad to say that I was best man in Merlin and (y/n)'s wedding. (Y/n) seemed so excited to have me at the wedding, and who wouldn't? I'm the best brother, aren't I?
They're so happy now, I haven't seen Merlin happier in all that I've known him. I'm glad he's treating her well, I wouldn't have asked for a better brother in law.
We all uprooted our lives in order for (y/n) to survive-no, for all of us to survive. And it was the best decision any of us made. We may have been scared, but with what we had to worry about before we left, this was child's play. Our lives were no longer expected to be dropped to help the community from the occasional monster.
For now, the Fearless 8 is retired. Who knows if the world will need us again? But when they do, we'll be ready, and we'll be happy.

Fin.
