Realization

[Reana's POV]

I heard that I would be discharged from the hospital soon, it was a good feeling and a good news to hear. To go back outside and have some fun. But I want to remember my dreams while I'm still laying on this hospital bed. I don't really fully remember my past as I think it has to do with me getting hit by that car during last year's New Year. I almost even forgot that I live in South Korea... It's so tragic and disappointing is it that I almost died during the first day of the new year and was asleep in a coma for almost a year... All of those dreams about me and my goals, my interests, my favorites, and even my nightmares... As I think about it, I think I realized and learned another thing. As a child I would just stay in my room or just in my house. I was just doing my own business, just being alone. I don't have that many friends, just two and it's still those two until now. I love my family so much that I would stay in my house mostly when I have no classes, just to wait for them to come home. My two friends that I talked about, Yana and Brielle, still come over to have fun with me because they feel sorry and sad for me when I'm lonely. Even if I don't need them, or I thought I didn't need them, they were still there for me. They even introduced me to Seventeen, and yes they are all so cute and my favorites. Sigh... I was such an introvert. Then I had to move away from my parents and family because I had to go to college and then later on I just heard that they passed away due to either illness or age. I first lost my family, then pandemic struck and my friends rarely came by with me and I just get jealous when they are with others. I, second, almost lost my friends. Then I couldn't even buy any albums or anything related to my beloved Seventeen because I had to save up money for I had been falling short. Thirdly, I almost lost my loved or favorite ones too... In those dreams, those memories just came back, and yes I had a sad childhood until college. Yet that dream too made me realize and learn something, that even without my family, I should continue because that's what they want for me. My friends and anyone else would say the same. Maybe that dream is saying that, I should just be happy in reality rather than excluding myself from others and just have fun and dream of fantasy. Maybe those dreams and nightmares made me realize that I still have them... I still have my friends even if sometimes they ignore me, they still care more for me... I still have my idols and hobbies and favorites, why am I asking for more...? Another is... dreams can be an escape yet it's almost the same thing anyways. We will wake up anyway so it's not an escape, it can be yet you have to come back anyways... I'm lucky that I'm still alive. Thank you Yana and Brielle, thank you too Shua-

She stopped as she heard her two best friends walking into her hospital room. They brought in food as they came back from their meeting from their office jobs. Brielle and Yana smiled at her as they all ate together. Reana smiled too as she's really happy to have them. As they all ate together, Reana started to cry. Brielle and Yana noticed her as they both quickly comforted her...

Brielle:

Rea, are you okay?

Yana:

Yeah, did something hurt you or are you hurt because you haven't fully recovered yet...?

Reana:

I'm not crying because I'm hurt or not fully recovered, I'm crying because... I'm sorry

Brielle:

Sorry for what?

Yana:

Yeah you haven't done something wrong to us.

Reana:

I'm sorry because before I didn't care that much for both of you. You both cared for me yet I didn't really appreciate you both. You were both there when I'm down yet I never really came to either of you whenever you both needed help. I'm sorry for neglecting you both. That's why I'm crying, I'm so sorry...

Reana cried and cried and couldn't finish her food as she was sorry for being such a careless person in the past and sometimes even until now. She would mostly care for herself and her family yet Yana an Brielle smiled instead of being angry or sad...

Brielle:

You know... me and Yana could only smile right now...

Reana:

Why...?

Yana:

We knew and realized you were that kind of a person from the beginning. We didn't care of your attitude nor your personality because me and Brielle cared for you as a whole. We came to you that one day to show you that you can have trustful and caring friends like us and we showed you Seventeen so just in case you're sad, they would be there for you. Not literally but through their songs and videos and everything else because they are cute and awesome. And your parents told us that you were a sad person so we came and we want to be with you, to be happy with you...

Brielle:

Remember this, even if your family is gone doesn't mean you have no more family. They live on in your memories and you still have a family, us...

Yana:

We already forgave you before for your negative personality and perspectives, we love you Rea, our best friend...

Yana and Brielle said as Reana cried even more, no longer because she's sorry and sad but because she felt so happy and thankful. Thankful that she has them and Seventeen.

Reana:

I'm glad I have you too, I love you two and I'll make it up to both of you from now on.

Brielle:

Yes but don't make us cry too...

Yana:

Too late... I'm already crying too- group hug!!

The three best friends cried and hugged each other. They all are thankful to have each other as they would be best friends forever since the day they all met...

The next day...

The next day as Reana was discharged from the hospital, she with her two best friends walked into their house. They live together as the two friends also moved to accompany Reana. As they were walking, Reana suddenly collided with someone. The person was wearing a headset and couldn't really hear her surroundings. Reana tried to stand but the person reached his hand and grabbed her up. "I'm sorry" he said as Reana nodded and forgave the man. She then helped him pick up the papers that fell before they collided. She then saw the name of the person and she was lost in words...

"I'm sorry and thank you too." the man said. "You're... welcome..." she replied back as the man rushed as she heard him say "I gotta hurry before Cheol gets angry at me for being late..." as the man checks his watch... Reana was in more shock as Brielle and Yana talked about the man as well...

Yana:

That man looks like Joshua from Seventeen.

Brielle:

Yeah, he does look like him but I still love Han though...

Reana wanted to speak yet she was still in shock of what happened. From what she had heard to what she saw from the person's name on the papers. She couldn't say anything and was speechless. She thought to herself and said...

"I realized that he's just no ordinary man... the name I saw... is he really...? The name that I saw was... Hong Jisoo... Joshua?!"
