Alex's POV:

The door opens and a woman is standing there.

"Hello. Who are you and why are you here?" The woman says coldly.

"I am Isabella Morgan and my parents said they didn't want me anymore and told me to come here." I say, trying my best to sound sincere.

"Well, I am Miss. Smith and I run this place. Come on in. You have to fill out paperwork." Miss Smith says.

"Yes ma'am." I say.

"Oh, we finally have found a girl with manners!" Miss Smith says sarcastically.

I roll my eyes and follow her inside. I fill out the paperwork and she yells at all the girls to go downstairs. Apparently this is an all girl orphanage, except for Miss Smith's son Joe.

The girls come downstairs and she says, "Line up according to age and then introduce yourself including your age from youngest to oldest!"

A short little girl who has brown hair, blue eyes and looks underfed steps up. "I'm Lexie. I'm 4." She says.

The next girl steps forward. She is a little bit on the chubby side and has brown hair and brown eyes. "I'm Skye. I'm 10." She says.

Two girls step forward at once. They look the same, so I'm guessing that they're twins or I need to get my vision checked. They both are blonde and have blue eyes. "I'm McKenna and she's McKenzie. We're 14, and if you haven't noticed, we're twins. Also, stay away from us. You're not the popular type, you freak." The one to the left says.

The next girls steps forward and speaks. She has red hair, blue eyes, and a lot of freckles on her face. "I'm Sierra and I'm 14."

Another girl steps forward. How many more names will I have to remember? I glance down the line and see that they're only one after this one. This girl has brown hair and green eyes. "I'm Hayley and I'm 15."

The last girl steps forward and speaks. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes. "I'm Marie and I'm 15."

Miss Smith says, "And I believe that's everyone. You will be sharing a room with Marie, and that's final. No arguing."

I grab my bag and follow Marie up a set of stairs I hadn't noticed until now. She turns down a hallway and goes into a door and I follow her in.

The room is smaller than my room at home, although it's still big enough for two people. They must have a lot of money because the beds are queen sized and they look really comfortable.

I put my stuff on my bed. I pull out my phone and turn it on. Just then, I get a call from Demi. I answer it.

"Hello?" I say.

"Alex we've been looking for you everywhere. Where are you?" Demi says.

"I'm starting a new life without you because apparently you and Mom hate me, so it would be better for me to be out of the house."

"Please just tell me where you are. I was upset and I wasn't thinking. Please just forgive me."

"I'll think about it."

"But where are you?"

"Some orphanage." I say dismissively.

"Why is my baby girl in an orphanage? What orphanage are you at? I'm coming to get you."

"Don't call me you're baby girl, cause I'm not. That's Madison. And I'm at Greystone Orphanage, at least that's what it says on the sign."

"I'm on my way. With the family." Demi hangs up.

Why do they have to come and get me just when my life's taking a turn for the better? I don't know. I go to the bathroom connected to my room and pull the blade that I hid in my pocket and pull it out.

I slash at my wrists ignoring the initial pain but craving the calmness that comes over me after I cut, taking away my depression and making me feel better.

When I glance down at my wrist, I see that all of the cuts are deep, and there is a lot of fresh cuts. I grab a black towel and clean up. I sit on the bed and prepare myself to be lectured to death.
