Prologue

It was hard at first. Mitch, Autumn, and I had to disappear, go underground. The only thing our friends knew was that we were taking a break from PTX to take care of Autumn. They were understanding.

Mitch and I slept in shifts. I'd take first, sitting in Autumn's room while Mitch slept, and then we'd switch. It was tiring and Autumn didn't understand. But she knew that we were keeping her safe and so she cooperated.

Occasionally she'd ask to see Uncle Scott or Aunt Esther, and I'd have to tell her that we were hiding from the bad people and that we had to stay hidden until everything was safe. We homeschooled her.

Zima visited every so often to discuss plans and such. Heat still didn't suspect anything, and Zima was working to recruit the Spring elements for our cause. Sun wouldn't be budging, we knew that much. He'd been Heat's right-hand man for over a hundred years, and that wasn't changing anytime soon. But if Zima could sway Rain, then we'd have Spring on our side, too. Snow knew about our rebellion and was helping as well, but she was more in charge of keeping the others from suspecting anything.

Heat assumed that Mitch and I were still on everyone's bad side, and that we were rogues, so-to-speak. To be killed on sight.

Zima still hadn't indulged the bit of magic we'd be using to kill heat and I was very curious, but didn't push the subject too much. I trusted Zima now that I knew she saw Heat for what he was.

So I followed along as Zima's aid, her right hand man, if you will. We, with Mitch's help, planned battle fronts and ideas for the assassination of Sun. When he fell, Heat would be much weaker than he was with Sun at his side.

It was about to get very, very real. No more blueprints and throwing ideas around like we were writing a song.

War. Real and true. The earth quite literally fighting with itself.

A war of the elements.

Sooo... I still suck at prologues. Always have, probably always will. But I procrastinated long enough to put this out and so, here it is. Yaaaaay.
