you walked around the hallways with ayako. the two of you had just eaten lunch, and you'd asked her to come help you hang up your flyers for the school dance. the two of you had a stack of flyers in your hands, and every once in a while you stopped to tape a few to the walls.

"did you draw this, y/n?" ayako asked you, pointing to the little palm trees and drinks you'd drawn on your tablet and added to the flyer.

you nodded. "yeah," you said sheepishly. "it was no big deal."

"you're so talented," she said quietly, touching your drawings against the wall. "i'm jealous."

"jealous?" you looked at her in disbelief. "why would you be jealous of me? you're an amazing dancer."

ayako smiled soothingly. "you are too! you have two things." she then tilted her head to the side. "i've never understood why you don't pursue art seriously."

you shrugged. "i guess i just haven't gotten around to it." the two of you started walking through the halls again, trying to find a new empty space to tape up the posters. "i've been busy with school and tutoring kuroo and dance."

"how's it going with kuroo? you two seemed to kind of become friends." ayako looked at you innocently.

you felt flustered as the memories of last night surfaced in your mind. you pictured the way kuroo looked at you as you touched yourself, instructing you on how to do so and groaning as he watched your reactions to the stimulation. and then his hand had reached into his pants and-

you stopped yourself. it was inappropriate to be thinking about these things at school. it was inappropriate in every circumstance, actually. he wasn't good for you and your knew it, but you couldn't resist the temptation.

"it's good. he's a good student." you answered ayako simply. ayako was your best friend, but you worried that if you told her what was actually going on with kuroo the weight of your actions would actually set in. you didn't want to feel like you were leading yourself into trouble, you just wanted to enjoy this. it was better for everyone if no one else knew. you wouldn't get your ass beat.

"how much longer are you going to tutor him?" ayako asked, stopping at a place with a nice, empty wall. "i feel like he's stealing you away from me." she broke off two pieces of tape and pressed a flyer against the wall.

"until he doesn't need me anymore," you said. "i don't think there's a set date or anything." you shook her arm. "but he's not stealing me away! you're my favorite."

ayako laughed. "i never thought i'd be competing with a hot volleyball fuckboy."

"this isn't a competition," you laughed, placing your own flyer on the wall. "you're my main bitch."

the words made ayako smile.

you realized that you had to put ayako first. you didn't think you were kuroo's main, so why should he be yours?

you opened the front door of the school, strolling out with your backpack on and airpods in your ears. there was no tutoring session tonight, so you were planning on going home and having a relaxing night that consisted of movies, food, and possibly some homework if you felt like it.

it was relatively empty around you. only a few students were walking outside the building, and a few buses lined up in the parking lot. you'd left school a little late, staying behind for another useless student council meeting led by the devil herself. you were beyond fed up with her subtle insults and egotistic remarks.

"y/n!" a familiar voice called your name, reaching your ears even through your airpods.

you knew you recognized the voice, but you couldn't exactly remember who it belonged to. you turned around, taking one of your airpods out of your ear to look for the owner of the voice.
