I woke up to the light brown eyes and handsome face of someone I knew, Luke. "Oh, Clem, you're up finally!" A wave of relief washed over him visibly.
"Hey... where's everyone?" Asking out of curiosity, only Luke was here with me. I scanned the room, it was the living room of the cabin. I've been here for two months and this is the only place I felt safe. Standing up after a minute, the memories came back. Tree's, tree's everywhere then everything went black. Waking up here. "Hey, Luke. What happened to me?" I questioned rubbing my forehead.
"You tell me. I found you when I was goin' on a supplies run." I never got tired of his cute southern accent... wait, what? Shaking off those obscure thoughts, I headed into the kitchen. Walking slowly, and seeing nobody. Luke must have gone to his room, since he didn't follow me in here. Glancing around, I heard a noise from out back. Cautiously, I creeped over to the back kitchen door that led outside. Peaking slightly out the curtain, I saw the whole group around a big campfire. Letting out a sigh, I stepped outside the door.
"Hey, Clementine you're okay!" Slurred a currently drunk, Nick. I sent a distastful look over at him. He was clearly drunk, the way he was talking and the bottle of some type of wine I was guessing, in his hand.
'Wow... I can't remember the last time I drank, probably a while ago,'
I shook my head, and walked over to Nick I took the bottle out of his hands, earning whatever glare he could focus on, from him. Depression was getting the best of us, Alyson, Nick's mother died a little while ago. It explains why Nick is drinking... Glancing at everyone else, I saw they were too upset. Rebecca, 8 and a half months into pregnancy most not be easy.. Alvin who was Rebecca's husband was just staring into the fire. Sarah and Carlos sitting together on a log, Sarah in her dads arms. They all looked emotionless, but I knew better. Standing there, I debated with myself on signing a song, and eventually decided to sing a song and play the guitar. I retrieved the guitar that was leaning up against a lawn chair. Absently strumming a few notes to get used to the feeling. I began to sing a song I remembered before this all happened.
"I've been stumbling around between the lines of red and blue
I was coloring thoughts for the sake of finding truth
Was following rules, counting all of my good deeds
Living in fear, hell at my feet, heaven is out of reach
And there's a fire that I once laid
There's a fire but no fire brigade
Help our souls tonight,
We are losing, losing this fight
Help our souls tonight,
Is there no one on our side?
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
No one here to,
Help our souls tonight,
It's on me, it's on you to survive
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
We are losing, losing this fight
Help our souls tonight,
Is there no one on our side?
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
No one here to,
Help our souls tonight,
It's on me, it's on you to survive
I've been stumbling around between the lines of red and blue
I was coloring thoughts for the sake of finding truth
Was following rules, counting all of my good deeds
Living in fear, hell at my feet, heaven is out of reach
And there's a fire that I once laid
There's a fire but no fire brigade
And with the rising sun
I arose from ash and dust
I, finally saw the world, for what it was
The good and bad, they were part of one
No matter how hard I tried to run
It's always darkest before the dawn
Believe it cause' you know it's inside you
Trust the fire, not the fire brigade
Help our souls tonight
We are losing, losing this fight
Help our souls tonight,
Is there no one on our side?
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
No one here to,
Help our souls tonight
It's on me, it's on you to survive
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
We are losing, losing this fight
Help our souls tonight,
Is there no one on our side?
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
No one here to,
Help our souls tonight
It's on me, it's on you to survive
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
We are losing, losing this fight
Help our souls tonight,
Is there no one on our side?
Who's gonna help our souls tonight?
No one here to,
Help our souls tonight,
It's on me, it's on you to survive."
(A|N: I once again changed the song... It's called 'Help Our Souls - Nihils' if you're going to listen to it, (which I recommend) I suggest listening to the Urban Contract Remix. I know there's no guitar (as far as I know), just imagine?)
I finished the song, and looked back at everybody they looked at me sympathetically- empathetically? I remembered Nick had that bottle of wine. Reaching out for it, I took at long drink. Nick looked wide eyed at me, and I surpressed an eye roll.
It was silent for a few moments, then a twig snapped nearby. Like an instinct, I pulled out my pistol along with Luke, who must have joined at some point while I was singing. Nick, and Carlos followed along.
"Who's there?" Carlos cried out in his Spanish accent. Everyone suspected a walker to come out. But someone emerged of the woods. My heart dropped at the sight.
(Nope. Not Kenny-Koo. I hope everyone gets that reference.)
