MARINETTE POV
The sound of my noisy alarm goes off right in my ear. I groan and sit up, annoyed.
Today's the day.
I throw my pink sheets to the side and hop out of bed. My bare feet slap onto the cold wooden floor and I soak in everything left.
My room looks so empty.
I snatch the clothes off my dresser and replace them from my black nightdress. I had my outfit picked out perfectly. I chose a dark red shirt with a square neck, black ripped jeans and a pair of my favourite high-top converse.
Brushing my hair, my waves turn into straight layers and I let it lay down on my shoulders. I hop down the stairs and jump on the last step. I turn my head to notice my mother grabbing her purse and keys from the counter.
"Ready?" she asks, holding my hand.
"Ready as I'll ever be, I guess," I hesitantly respond. I bite my lip as I think about it.
I'm already scared but I didn't want my parents to worry.
We walk out the door and she locks the door behind us. "Your father took your stuff in our car, he wanted to get breakfast for you on your first day!" she smiles and my heart warms.
I place my hand on my chest and let out a loving sigh. "I'm gonna miss free breakfast," my mother slaps my arm and I giggle, hopping to my car.
She throws me the keys as we walk out the back door of our apartment building. I skip to the drivers seat and eagerly get in.
It will be nice to have my freedom with my own car.
She gets in and I back out.
The entire hour drive, my mother and I spent talking about fun memories and how much we are going to miss each other. We pull into the lot and immediately notice my dad waving us down. I pull up right beside him and roll down my window.
"Ah, I see my little girl took the chance to drive her car," he teases. I roll my eyes and snicker. He hands me a McDonalds bag and the smell of fresh meat and cheese fills my nose.
I put my hand on my fathers whos' gently lays on the window. "Thank you papa."
My mom opens the passenger door and hops out and I park. I stare at the front doors in front of us.
Shit, this place is huge.
I go to my dads car and pick up 2 boxes full of my clothes, and head to the front desk. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng," I say, smiling at the lady.
She clicks on her keyboard making a satisfying yet recognizable sound. "You're in room 32B. Alya Cesaire is your roommate," she speaks gently, and grins at me.
She hands me a key and I head towards the elevators, looking for floor B button.
My parents told me they were going to bring my stuff after me, so I just went up myself.
I arrive at the floor and walk down the hall. The carpets were a dark blue with magenta-coloured diamonds the size of grapes. I look for the door number 32 and open the door.
The wooden piece creaks open to reveal two double beds across from each other. One was underneath a small window and at the end of it was a closet. The other one was pushed up against a wooden board and had an open closet at the end of the bed.
I turn my head back and forth to weigh out my options. I decide to go with the window spot. I place my boxes on my bare bed and let the aroma fill my nostrils.
It smells like raisins and fresh wood. I like it.
I go back out my door to see my parents talking with one another until they see me.
1.5 hours pass but I hardly notice as I spent the entire time unpacking. My parents brush off the access dust off their clothes and step into the hall. "We are gonna miss you so much Marinette." My parents give me a tight hug and wipe tears away.
I force a smile, feeling myself becoming sad.
"I'm gonna visit you guys okay? It's only 1 hour drive, I'm not that far! Plus, I'll be back for fall break!" I hug them once more and they walk down the hall waving goodbye.
