Wooyoung blearily awoke to see Alister's face inches from his own.

"Fuck." He scampered away, glad when he noticed the bars between him and Alister. The elder laughed, walking back over to a huge throne against the back wall of the room.

More a cave, actually.

Wooyoung was trapped in a small alcove near what he presumed was the entrance, the ceiling reaching so high Wooyoung almost couldn't see it in the dim lighting even with his enhanced vision. The cracks in the floor were stained in red.

Bile rose at the thought of how many had died where he was standing.

"The first time this happened little wretch I didn't have time to really savour your suffering. But that boy of yours isn't here. And we have all the time in the world." Alister chuckled, cold eyes filled with cruel joy as Wooyoung felt a panic attack begin to burn at his mind. "Oh don't you worry just yet, we haven't even gotten through the pre-feast entertainment."

Now Wooyoung felt truly sick.

"Yeosang, bring him in." Alister's voice took on a hypnotic tone as Yeosang, who had been standing out of sight, walked over to a nearby cell and dragged an unconscious Seonghwa to the centre of the room.

Wooyoung slammed his hands against the bars. "Yeosang what..."

But then Wooyoung remembered.

Where Taemin could read minds, Alister could control them.

While it was more limited than Taemin's powers, and only worked when he was completely focussed, Alister's abilities had always terrified Wooyoung.

"Wake him." Alister had a frighteningly sadistic glint to his eyes as Yeosang awoke Seonghwa. "Human, try to kill Yeosang."

Seonghwa groggily stood up, too unfocused to summon his soul armour. "Uh, no?"

The room fell silent with shock.

"Oh. I know who you are." A wicked grin tugged at the elder's lips. "Park Seonghwa. You're one of that forsaken Park family. Or, well, the one. The only pathetic humans that can disrupt elder magic."

"Yeah, so you can't control me!" Wooyoung wanted to yell at Seonghwa to shut up. He was only making this already awful situation worse.

Alister only shrugged. "That doesn't matter to me. If anything it makes this more interesting."

You could hear a pin drop as Wooyoung anticipated Alister's next move.

"Yeosang, kill him."

Seonghwa's eyes widened as he focussed solely on Yeosang. There was almost no way to fight the hold Alister's magic had over a person. And Seonghwa was quickly realising this.

"Yeosang. No, Yeosang. Don't take another step." Tears began to pour down Seonghwa's face as he backed away, frantic as he searched for an escape.

But it wasn't long before his back his a wall.

Wooyoung could see it all, but he couldn't reach Seonghwa. He was so close, yet not enough.

"I can't hurt you." Seonghwa sobbed, staring Yeosang in the eyes with such sincerity as he seemed to rely only on Yeosang's fleeting self control.

Yeosang's hands shot up to grip Seonghwa's neck.

Seonghwa was instantly gasping for breath, hands grasping Yeosang's wrists. The other was looming over him, fangs bared and hands secured around Seonghwa's neck. He hadn't cut off the air yet, but he was close.

"Yeosang please." Seinghwa's voice was softer than Wooyoung had heard it before. "Calm down."

Yeosang's grip only tightened slightly.

"Yeo listen to me. Please God Yeosang stop!" Seonghwa was sobbing, frightened and breaking. Alister chuckled, pleased with the games he was playing.

"Do it Yeosang." Alister snarled, and Yeosang's teeth tore into the flesh of Seonghwa's neck. The wound wasn't clean, and even from his position Wooyoung could see how brutal Yeosang was. All that left Seonghwa's lips was a small gasp, followed by garbled sobs as blood trickled from his mouth. That same startling crimson seeped over Seonghwa's clothing and skin, tainting Yeosang's hands. None of them could stop this.

All they could do was watch as Seonghwa began to slip away.

"I love you."

Seonghwa was pale, and his voice was so barely audible that Wooyoung almost believed it was his imagination. But it was real.

And Yeosang seemed to finally hear him.

"H-human?" Yeosang's eyes were visibly clearer. He blinked and wiped at his cheek like he was trying to fight drowsiness. But his palm slid messily against his cheek, and he froze as his senses returned. "No..."

Seonghwa finally collapsed.

"No!" Yeosang wailed, catching Seonghwa just in time and tumbling to the floor with him. "Hey, stay with me. Seonghwa please." Alister sighed, now rather bored from what his expression betrayed. But Wooyoung almost didn't believe his own ears.

That was the first time Yeosang had spoken Seonghwa's actual name.

"Well now the fun's over." Alister sighed, fingertips pressed to his forehead. Wooyoung shook the bars of his cell, hysterical.

"Yeosang you better fucking save him." Wooyoung screamed. "I don't care how, but please don't let Hwa die!"

"Seonghwa I... I love you too. This is... my fault. I did this to you. You're going to die because of me." Yeosang had his hands pressed to the still gushing wound, feeble in his attempts to halt it's flow.

"No, please don't think like that." Seonghwa was smiling, even now. That big beautiful smile that now looked misplaced paired with his bloodied red lips. "You didn't do this. I just regret one little thing." Seonghwa weakly brushed Yeosang's cheek with the back of his hand, catching a few stray murky black tears.

"Meeting me?" Yeosang gripped Seonghwa's hand as though it were a lifeline.

"Not asking you on a date when I had the chance." Seonghwa chuckled, before spluttering up more blood. The area around them was soaked, a thick pool that drenched anything it touched. The blood had reached Wooyoung's cell and began to wet his bare feet. Wooyoung couldn't hold it back any longer, vomiting on the floor as horror clawed at his throat.

"You will, I promise." Yeosang finally seemed resolute in something, bringing his own wrist to his lips and slicing the vain.

"Yeosang no." Seonghwa had fresh tears carving his face. "Don't hurt yourself."

"Trust me, ok?" Yeosang waited for Seonghwa's small nod before holding his wrist over Seonghwa's mouth.

"No!" Alister seemed about to stop them.

But it was too late.

Blood trickled into Seonghwa's mouth, and Yeosang very gently kissed Seonghwa's lips to quickly spread venom to Seonghwa's body.

The beginnings of the turn were immediate.

The wound on Seonghwa's neck began to seal over, leaving nothing but a jagged white scar. His skin regained a small amount of colour. It was more than clear that Seonghwa would be alright.

He and Yeosang were too distracted to see Alister walking over to Wooyoung.

"Now, to deal with you." Alister disappeared in smoke, reappearing before Wooyoung. "I'm doing this to preserve my own kind. Vampires like San need to breed with other nobles to keep our bloodlines pure. Pets like you are nothing but a distraction. One that needs to be removed."

"Like Hell it does." An enraged snarl reverberated over the walls, followed by a fist connecting with Alister's chin. The elder went through the bars, smacking the opposite wall of the cave.

San had found them.
