[Georges POV]
I open my eyes to see the sun shining through the curtains. I rub my eyes from tiredness and adjust to the light. I keep laying in bed for a few more minutes, trying to figure out what to do next. I check my phone to see that the time has hit 6.55 am.
I check Snapchat notifications to see if someone has sent me a snap or texted, but as I expected, none did.
I get up from my bed and the smell of breakfast floods through my nostrils imminently after standing up. I walk downstairs following the smell only to see that my mother is making pancakes.
"Goodmorning," I say with a raspy voice caused by my tiredness.
"Goodmorning, honey. Have you slept well?" she asks in a sweet voice.
"Yeah, I've slept well".
She turns around and looks at me "Are you excited about the new school?" she gives me a small smile.
I return the smile "I think so, I'm also kinda stressed about it but it's a mix of those two feelings." I finish the sentence, and take a seat at the table, pouring some apple juice into my cup.
She nods and hands me a few pancakes.
When I finish eating, I thank for the meal and go upstairs to freshen up before school.
I splash some cold water on my face, to look a bit fresher than I am, and start brushing my teeth.
I make sure that I have packed everything that I needed for school, double-checking so I don't forget anything.
I look at the clock only to see that the time has hit 7.30.
I walk downstairs and tell my mom that I am ready.
We walk together out to the car, and I take the passenger seat because I can't drive yet, which yeah seems pretty weird for a high schooler but I just never thought I'd need it.
My mom starts the car and starts driving, while we listen to the radio. The drive to the school is about a 15 minutes of a drive, but I wanted to be there earlier today, so I have time to find my classes, etc.
"Where's dad and Emily?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Your sister took a walk with the dog before school, and your dad is... well passed out on the bed." she says forming a sad smile on her face.
"Oh, okay." I say almost sounding like I'm not used to that, but the truth is, I am, I just wish it was different. My dad is an alcoholic and has been for the past few months, he's also very abusive, and in my opinion, totally doesn't deserve to be a dad but oh well.
The only reason mom is still with him is because if we leave, he'll find us. After all, he's crazy like that, we don't know what he's capable of, and yeah we could just call the police, but it's not that easy to just do that to a family member. So we have to deal with it.
After some time, we arrive at the school. I step out of the car, mumble a small goodbye accompanied by a small wave.
I watch her as she drives off, and return my attention to the school. It looks almost like I imagined it to, A big football field for the players, a parking lot in front of the school, and what appears to be a garden?
I start walking towards the front entrance of the school, passing by some students, some are talking beside their cars, some smoking, others do their last-minute homework.
Damn, I must look very lame getting dropped off by my mom, while others have their cars. But I don't think much of it as I continue walking towards the school.
I enter the school, and inside, to my surprise, it's very clean. I walk over to the principal office, and just as I reach for the door handle, the door swings open.
I watch as a tall blonde male walks out of the office. He passes by without looking at me.
"Clay I hope that was the last time, next time, there will be more consequences." The voice comes from an older male, and when I look in the direction of the sound, it appears to be the Principal.
Clay. What a weird name.
"Ight Fuck off." The blonde says, how can someone be so disrespectful?
"Language Clay." The principal says as the boy continues walking.
The blond walks over to a mildly smaller male, with black hair and a bandana around his head. He starts laughing with the blonde, as they both start walking off.
I turn back to the principal.
"Hello Mr. Davidson, welcome to the school!" The Principal starts.
"I'd prefer just George." I correct. Davidson is from my dad, and I hate that name.
"Okay, George." The Principal continues and shakes my hand as another boy walks up from behind him. A Shorter one, maybe about 5'7. He has light brown hair, and a black hoodie, with maybe a red strap around the hood? I'm not sure because I can't see red.
"This Is Darryl, he will show you around the school." The principal continues as the boy shakes my hand.
"Thank you." I say in a low tone, almost a mumble.
"I'll see you around George." The principal says and walks back inside the office.
'Darryl' as he was introduced started walking, and I followed.
"So this is your locker, right beside mine." Darryl says in a friendly voice
He seems nice
I open my locker as Darryl continues the conversation
"So, where are you from exactly?" he asks while offering a friendly smile
I return the gesture "I'm from London, my parents moved here because they think you guys have better things, which no offense but that's not really true." I say, making sure that I didn't offend him, but he doesn't look bothered.
"No yeah, I get it, but America for sure is great too." he says still smiling. As I finish putting my things in the locker, a taller light-skinned male, with what I think is a Light blue hoodie.
"Bad!" the taller male yells, which caught Darryl off-guard as he jumped leaving a little scream. The taller male started giggling as he hugged Darryl
"Hi, Skeppy! This is George, he's the new student, I'm showing him around." Darryl says
I give him a small hi whilst being confused about the nickname 'Skeppy' gave him
"His real name is Zak, but we call him Skeppy, And I go by Bad" Darryl, or so-called Bad continues
"You're the new guy from London right?" Skeppy asks, I nod in approving his statement
"How many people know that I'm the new kid?" I ask curiously and making it sound way more anxiously than I wanted it to.
"A lot of people." Bad says
"Yeah, it doesn't happen very often that Europeans come to our school, we have a few of those but it's rarely happening" Skeppy continues, and just as he finished the sentence the bell rings, and the whole school gets crowded with dozens of people.
I feel the anxiety rising in my chest of the sudden meeting of new people
This for sure is gonna be hell.
