chapter 6: whatdidhesayy

it'd been a couple days of pretty much the same routine,

-wake up

-school

-food

-home

-nap

-food

-netflix

-sleep for 3 hours

and repeat

but today you were once again being forced to wake up unnecessarily early to go to your brothers volleyball practice.

something else you noticed that was pretty strange is that in the morning your mom was up when you guys left. usually tsuki has to leave so early for practice that she's still sleeping at that time.

and not only was she awake but she was all smiley and giggly and weird. ew.

you decided not to think too much of it because your mom can be pretty weird in general, plus you were too tired for your mind to even be able focus on it.

like last time, you and your brother went to pick up yams and then walked to the gym.

also, like last time, pretty much everyone was staring at you, well, at least until ukai walked in.

"ok goodmorning everyone one," his voice echoed across the gym.

you were lying down in the same spot you had the previous practice you stayed for.

only this time, you actually did plan on sleeping.

but of course, that wouldn't happen.

"hey y/n! could you make your way down here please!" daichi called out for you

you internally screamed and then walked down the steps half-asleep to meet the group of boys and their coach.

although you might make snarky remarks here and there, say rude shit to your brother, and act like you don't care what anyone thinks, you weren't particularly fond of other people. especially when all the attention was on you.

so you when you made your way down you somewhat hid behind your giant of a brother.

unfortunately for you daichi called you up to step out, nice front and center for everyone to see, all eyes on you.

ukai spoke up, "everyone, me and daichi have an announcement."

daichi  put his hand on your shoulder and said, "boys, say hello to the newest addition of your team!"

....

this moment, this moment right here, you could would rather crumble up into a little paper ball, be thrown out, and set on fire, than be in that gym. the awkward tension seemed to increase by the second.

you turned back to look at tsukishima, but for once in his life he was also speechless.

kageyama was the first to speak up, "w-what h-how no way. this is in no way fair. me and hinata fought our way onto this team and you're just gonna let some random new girl get in after observing 1 practice? and she's... well, she's a she!! as in a girl. on a boys team. i mean whats so special about her anyways, and how would you even know she just arrived to the school!?"

a cluster of "yeah's" could be heard around the gym

"i mean... i don't have any complaints," noya winked at you.

kiyoko smacked him in the back of the head, "how about we just listen to the coach," she said in a calming voice which basically got all the boys drooling.

including noya who now had a huge bump on the back of is head

ukai sighed, "we thought someone would say something like that, and... you're right. everything will be explained soon, but before we get into why she's on the boys team, i want to prove that y/n does indeed derserve to be here. so, me and daichi decided to prepare a little contest. kagyama, hinata, asahi, noya tsukishima, daichi, up for a little game?"
