*happy international women's Day*

Ash was reading a book in the bottom bunk of the bed. It was a weird human book, about children going off to the hungry games.
It wasn't too wordy or dark, Ash liked it
Altogether she was having a very peaceful evening, that is until Quinn came rushing in, tears streaming down her cheeks
Quinn stopped when she spotted Ash
"Sorry" she croaked
Ash blinked, she'd never really interacted with Quinn, but she wasn't heartless.
"What's wrong Quinn?" She asked, putting down her book beside her, patting the spot beside her on the bed.
Quinn's breath was shaky and she was still crying but she smiled and sat down regardless

"I-" she paused and took a deep breath "I saw avacato and Gary, kissing"

Ash gasped and turned her body to face Quinn.
"Are you sure?" She asked albeit helplessly
"I thought" Ash considered her next words "I thought they had something going on, but Gary loved-loves you"
She stuttered
Quinn nodded, wiping her eyes
"Whatever's happening, I'm sure he still loves you. I'm not condoning what he did-" Ash paused "but you mean a lot to him, surely"

Quinn offered a small smile before once again, bursting into tears

"I'm so sorry Quinn" Ash said, placing her hand on Quinn's shoulder

They were silent for a few moments, Quinn wondered when Ash would retract her hand and continue reading. Quinn wouldn't blame her, of course, they don't really know each other
"I have an idea!" Ash exclaimed, grinning. Quinn raised an eyebrow, this is not what she had been expecting.
"Gary-" she paused, looking sorry for bringing the man up. "He has a box of old earth movies, I could borrow Fox's DVD player and we could watch some"
Quinn smiled, pleased but confused
"Ash" she started "you should really get to sleep, I'm an adult, I can deal with this by myself"
Ash's smile faltered and for a moment Quinn was scared she'd offended the young girl

"I haven't been having really nice dreams of late" Ash quietly said "and I'm not saying you can't deal with this by yourself, I'm just saying you shouldn't have to"

This was a weird position for both of them, but Ash seemed so happy to help that Quinn just couldn't refuse

"Okay" Quinn smiled "I'll get the movies"

Ash grinned, "I'll get the player"

****
Quinn didn't realise how much she didn't want to see Gary and Avacato until she actually stepped foot out of her and Ash's room
She slunked down the halls towards the tv room. Straight under the tv was where the box was located, Quinn searched through the options as quietly as she could
There were a bunch of rom coms, but those certainly wouldn't be helpful in this situation

Quinn spotted scream In the mix. 'Ash would like this' she thought
Quinn ended up picking it up, along with a couple of other thrillers, horrors and Daria l

"You okay there lady?" It was Sheryl

Quinn stopped rummaging through the box and turned around. Sheryl was sitting on a high chair, resting on the counter with a wine glass in hand

Quinn furrowed her eyebrows "aren't you trying to quit?" She accused

"It's cranberry juice" Sheryl drawled " want a taste?"

"I'm good" came Quinn's stiff reply. She grabbed the DVDs and prepared to walk out. Making the mistake of making eye contact with Sheryl goodspeed

"You've been crying" Sheryl said, it wasn't a question, it was a statement

Quinn paused at the doorway. "Mhm" she agreed, suprising Sheryl. "What about it?" Quinn growled, all she wanted was to have a movie night with Ash, she wanted no interactions with Sheryl goodspeed.
Sheryl moved slowly and stubbornly towards the cupboard, taking out a marshmallow packet, a handful of nuts and a large chocolate block
"Go have your movie night" she said, dismissing Quinn "I'm sure it will all work itself out"
Quinn didn't need to be told twice and was out of that room as fast as possible
