Jakub ran. He ran to get away from it all. He ran at night today, particullarly to get away from this mornings events. He had been out jogging at around 5:30 A.M, and found a dead body. His ex's dead body.
He currently ran about 3 miles from his house. The town Truman wasn't huge, so he had gotten pretty far. He stopped running. He bent over, and took deep breaths. Everywhere he loooked, in the shadows, he saw it. That thing! He was going crazy. On the other hand, he was going to be killed. He knew that. Tuesday night, Paul. Wednesday, Camilla. And Thursday, himself.
He checked the time. 1:28. Jakub relized, in his heart, it was over. He had made a deal with the devil, and now was his due. He hung his head, and walked towards an alleyway. He kicked over a trash can. It fell over, contents spilling everywhere. In those contents was a leathery black thing....
"Oh my god.." Jakub whispered. The leathery thing slithered into a huge, twisted shape. At least 9 feet tall. A wisp of darkness brushed Jakubs face, throwing him into the middle of a street. He whimpered.
"You know what you did..." A whisper through the air spoke. "You knew you would pay...."
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO!" Jakub sobbed. "PLEASE!"
"You could have stopped it..." The voice was getting more impatient.
Then Jakub saw the light, the beautiful light of redemption, of hope, of heaven and hell.
It was the headlights of a semi truck.
