This fic takes place after Seirin lost in the Finals (before training camp and the Winter Cup)~

Her knocks on the door was greeted by silence.
Kagami…
[Name] knew he was home, having visited all his usual hangouts before she made her way to his apartment. A week had passed since Seirin lost in the Final League, and since then, the entire team had been rather dispirited. But mainly, she was concerned about her boyfriend the most. Thus, there she was, standing in front of his apartment door, a plastic bag full of burgers in hand.
“I’m coming in,” she announced, reaching beneath the doormat to retrieve a key.
Walking down the dark corridors, she stopped outside his room, where she could see him sitting by his bed through the half-opened door. The wooden door creaked as she pushed it open, tentatively calling out his name.
The redhead made no response to her voice, his eyes focused on the basketball spinning on his pointer finger. [Name] sat down on the short bed beside him, her heart lurching at the sight of Kagami being in such a crestfallen state.
“I bought some burgers for you!” She said cheerily, holding up the plastic bag in front of him.
“…Thanks.”
Her smile faltered as she placed the bag next to her, a frown etched on her face as she whispered, “A-Are you alright? Everyone’s been worried about you. I’m worried about you…”
Grabbing the ball from his hands, she ignored the way his jaw clenched and how he averted eye contact. “Kagami,” she pleaded softly, “don’t shut me out… please…”
The basketballer sighed heavily, before looking at her with his crimson eyes. But there was something off about them. Instead of its usual passionate glow, his eyes were now filled with a dull despondent sheen which reflected in his body language as he deadpanned, “I’m weak…”
Caught off guard from his sudden confession, she shifted till she was seated between his legs. “Just because you lost one game doesn’t make you weak, Taiga. Seirin is still a new team, and you guys haven’t perfected your teamwork yet.”
“How can a team be good, if their players are weak? How can I get stronger?” His hands hung loosely by her hips as his eyes searched desperately for an answer in her [e/c] hues.
Looping her arms around his shoulder, she gave him a sweet smile. “I have no idea.”
“But,” she giggled when Kagami rolled his eyes, a hint of a smirk playing at his lips, “I do know that on top of your own individual effort, you need to trust and rely on your teammates too. You’re not alone, Kagami. You have the entire team with you, and I’ll be with you, regardless of what happens too.”
“You absolutely suck at anything related to basketball, but you really do know how to make a guy feel better, [Name]…” He muttered against the crown of her head when he pulled her in for a hug.
Breathing in his familiar scent, she smiled against his chest, her heart swelling at the fact that he trusted her enough to show her the vulnerable side of him.
“Now, how many burgers did you get for me? I’m getting hungry.”
“Five~”
“That’s hardly enough!”
“Bakagami! You’re not even playing any basketball these two weeks, why do you need to eat so much?!”
“S-Shut up!!”
