Scraps of failed attempts filled the bin beside the counter in a huge pile. For weeks, you've been wrecking your head, trying to come up with a unique tattoo design that would appeal to customers. Despite your artistic skills improving tremendously ever since you started off as a tattoo artist, your inspiration was beginning to dwindle, and no matter how hard you tried, you just couldn't come up with an original design that you were satisfied with.
Today is the day you would get back your inspiration, you convinced yourself; and since you had no appointments, you gathered some drawing materials, stuffing them into a small bag before heading out of the tattoo parlour in search of new ideas.
You roamed aimlessly around town, taking in your surroundings with an observant gaze. However, everything seemed dull until you reached a quieter part of town where the residential area began.
Situated right next to a small bakery, was a flower shop.
Pots of vibrant flowers lined the outside of the shop, resembling a splash of colours when compared to the rest of the street. Captivated by the vivid colours, you walked towards the flower shop and bent down in front of a particular pot of flowers. Around each stalk were clusters of florets, and each petal was tinted a pretty pink.
"Those are snapdragons."
Looking up, you were taken aback by the beauty of the woman who spoke to you.
"The pink ones are really popular with most customers. Are you interested in getting some?
"Not exactly..." You stood up, turning to face her. "I was actually looking for some inspiration when your flowers caught my attention."
Her friendly demeanour heightened when she asked, "Oh, so you're an artist?"
"I'm a tattoo artist," you smiled sheepishly. "Erm... would you mind if I stayed here to make a sketch of these flowers?"
"Of course not! Feel free to come inside!"
You gratefully followed the lady inside, the flowery scent hitting you as you stepped into the shop.
"I'm Momoi Satsuki, by the way."
Giving her your name, you smiled up at her when she showed you to a small table with a few chairs. "Thank you so much for letting me stay, Momoi-san. I hope I'm not disrupting you."
"It's fine," she assured. "Not many customers come in at this time of the day, and I'm honoured that you think my flowers are pretty enough to make into a design!"
"I'm still unsure about how I should go about with the design," you laughed awkwardly, not daring to say for certain that you would be able to come up with something.
"Well, I hope you'll be able to find the inspiration you need in my shop then," Momoi mused, a sweet smile on her lips.
~~
Fortunately for you, inspiration did come, and you let it guide you; moving the pencil over the paper as you sat in the corner of the flower shop.
You were so deeply concentrated in your work that you didn't even notice that you had finished drawing until you realized there was nothing left to touch up on. Sketches of flowers were scattered across the pages, and on the final page of the scrapbook was the drawing of a female. Although she was drawn with her face angled away so her features weren't clearly visibly, it shocked you to see a resemblance in the sketch.
"Is that me?"
Flinching at the closeness of her voice, you looked over your shoulder to see Momoi peering over your shoulder at your sketchbook. At her proximity, you noted that her silky hair held a sweet smelling scent. Up close, her features looked even more striking- the arch of her nose and the way her lashes curled from her eyes.
"It looks so good!"
"Really?" You asked, worried that she'd be unhappy with you drawing inspiration from her.
Momoi smiled at you; an upward quirk of her rosette lips as she made your concerns fade away.
"I like it."
