At the sound of the doorbell ringing through the house, you got up to your feet, wearily making your way to the door. It was nearing noon on a Saturday and it was a lazy day for you. School had been relentlessly that week and all you wanted to do over the weekend was lounge around the house while recharging for the next week.
"I'm coming!" You called out as you made your way down the stairs. Opening the front door, your eyes widened when you saw who was standing outside.
"Sei-kun?"
"Good morning."
"What are you doing here?"
"You mentioned that your parents weren't going to be home today and you had to cook lunch yourself. And you looked rather tired yesterday after school, so I thought it would be a good idea to bring you lunch."
Akashi held up a paper bag; the logo being one from a reputable restaurant in town. He paused for a moment before asking, "aren't you going to invite me in?"
"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry!" You apologised profusely. Holding the door open, you motioned for him to come in, horribly embarrassed by your lack of hospitality. "Please come in! I just woke up a while ago and I'm a little out of it... sorry..."
"It's alright," he chuckled.
You closed the door behind him, cheeks still burning from embarrassment as you turned around to notice him standing in the front corridor of your house. It was only then that you got a chance to have a good look at him. Akashi had been your boyfriend for a while and you've gone out on dates with him many times, but it never failed to amaze you how good he looked in casual attire. Looking down at what you were wearing, you cringed at your baggy t-shirt and shorts. It was certainly not the most attractive thing you could have on, but it would have to do.
Akashi was looking at the pictures of your family framed up on the wall before glancing at you, a small smile on his lips. "You were such an adorable child, [Name]."
"Stop looking at those... they're so embarrassing," you mumbled, grabbing his hand and leading him inside. "Let's go to the kitchen.
"Erm we weren't expecting guests so my house is super messy right now... I hope you don't mind."
"Not at all," Akashi said, walking beside you as you brought him to the kitchen. "I'm an uninvited guest, after all. By right I should have called before appearing at your doorstep."
"You know you're always welcomed to my house, Sei-kun!" You laughed, taking the paper bag from him as he sat down at the dining table in your kitchen. "My family loves you."
"I should hope so. I want your parents to approve of our relationship."
The plates clinked against the tabletop when you placed one plate in front of him and the other in front of yourself before sitting opposite him. "Of course they approve of our relationship, Sei-kun. They're always so happy to have you around."
"Your happiness is what I'm concerned with the most, [Name]."
Looking up at Akashi, you saw a soft grin on his features; his gaze fixated on you. Feeling a smile make its way to your lips, you mused, "I'm always happy when I'm with you."

Snuggling together on the couch, you were both watching a movie playing on the television screen. Akashi had his arm around your shoulders, holding you close as you leaned against him. It had been a while since you've had time to spend together like this; just having a day to relax without stressing about school or basketball.
Feeling a dip on your side of the couch, you turned your head and smiled when you saw your cat.
"Hey, [cat name]," you cooed.
Your feline friend purred. Sauntering towards you, it rubbed itself against your leg and you shifted so that it could climb onto your lap. Even though you've had it for a long time, you still loved when it came to you for attention.
Its big eyes stared at yours as it mewed, as if demanding for more attention. You sat up with a smile, giggling as it nuzzled against you when you moved to hug it. Praising your cat softly, you stroked its head gently, happy that it was vying for so much affection that day.
"[Name]."
"Hm?" You looked up at Akashi, an innocent smile on your face. "Did you say something?"
He sighed heavily. "Are you even watching the movie?"
"I am," you sang out absentmindedly while continuing to play with your cat.
Akashi sighed again before turning back to the screen, painfully aware of the attention you were giving your cat instead of him. He wasn't someone who often seeked attention – no he definitely wasn't – but it was times like this when you were alone with him that he secretly craved for more of your affection.
The movie ended not long after, and you nudged him playfully. "Sei-kun! Do you want to watch another movie?"
"...Fine by me."
Shocked by the indifference in his voice, you turned to look at him; only to see a small frown marring his face.
"Sei-kun... are you alright?"
A mewl from your cat diverted your attention momentarily and Akashi huffed, leaning towards you. "Don't you think you should pay more attention to your boyfriend?"
You stared at him for a couple seconds before grinning. "Akashi Seijuro... Are you jealous of my cat?"
"...No... Of course not..."
Eyeing him with a smirk, you said, amusement lacing your voice, "you're totally jealous."
"Don't be ridiculous. Why would I be jealous of a cat?"
He's so adorable, you thought, chuckling at the sight of the crease between his brows.
Your cat jumped off your lap when you moved to wrap your arms around his neck. Instinctively, his hands circled round your waist to pull you closer and his frown finally disappeared; giving way to a soft, affectionate gaze as he looked at you.
"If you wanted attention," you whispered before kissing him softly on his lips. "All you had to do was ask."
