I was regaining consciousness again.
My first reaction: ignore my painful, pulsing neck.
My second reaction: not open my eyes.
I’ve seen too many horror films not to know that’s a bad idea. Instead, I came up with a clever solution. Explore the surroundings with my other 4 senses.
My ears were delivering a sound of engine. Am I in a car? I did feel something hard, yet soft under me. And it smelled like something died in here. It was coming from the trunk. Yeah, it was definitely a car. A stinky one.
But how did I get here?
Oh, that must be it!
I was kidnapped!
I couldn’t believe this was happening!
I almost screamed YES! Then I remembered.
I was kidnapped.
That’s not a good thing.
- I know you’re awake. The voice belonged to a male. It was rough. Or hot, depends what way you look at it. So, only one kidnapper, ha? Well that’s nice.
Wait, wait, wait ,wait… He knows I’m awake? How the hell does he know that?! How can you know the deference between an unconscious person and a sleeping one?!?! You can’t, can you? Can you??? Oh great, a panic attack.
I opened my eyes and sat up, stretching. There’s no point in pretending I’m dead now.
He peeked at the rearview mirror. Looks like he was as intrigued by his mystery companion as I was.
Oh thank you, thank you God!
What I saw in that windshield was the hottest 18, 19 year old I’ve EVER seen. I controlled myself from asking him – You wanna have sex now? It was hard.
He had shoulder length coal dark hair , and he was all in black. He wasn’t too tall or too short, just perfect. He sort of looked like he had red eyes too. Like me.
It was like he read my mind
- You have weird eyes for a human…
- Wait, for a human?
The first thing I said to him. Sad.
- Yeah well, you’ll see.

We were driving for about 15 minutes. The silence we shared was occasionally broken by my yawns or his sudden pressure on the brakes. He wasn’t a really good driver, just like I wasn’t a really good speaker. The tension however, was all around. I already striped him in my mind more than 5 times. He glanced at the back seat every 5 seconds. Sometimes I could catch lust in his eyes. Was he attracted to me as much as I was to him? No, no way, a guy like that probably has a supermodel girlfriend. Although, I did wonder why would a guy like THAT do something like THIS.
Finally, we were there. Wherever ‘there’ was. It looked like a really tiny desert, surrounded by a forest. Also, there was a small town nearby. I was so distracted with starring at the guy, that I had no idea how we got here.
He got out of the car. I must have been hallucinating, cause it looked like he disappeared.
All I heard was two fast clicks coming from the back. That disgusting smell was gone.
Something’s not right here. It didn’t look like a standard kidnapping like those I saw on TV.
The next moment he was back. Out of nowhere. He opened the door I leaned against and I fell down into the dirt. Then it shoot me.
He’s gonna kill me.
This amazing hunk is really gonna kill me.
It seemed like it wasn’t his first time…
My stupid brain was already planning the funeral. Penny was crying, Alex was comforting her, they were the only two people there…; no matter how hard it tried, it couldn’t imagine my parents.
On the other hand, my body just wasn’t ready to give up. It wanted to go down in a fight, something it never experienced.
I quickly jumped on my feet and swung really hard at him. It made me look ridiculous. He caught my fist with an ease. In the next second, I was in the dirt again. The tears automatically started to shed down my face. Damn those sensitive genes. I turned on my back, ready to beg. Maybe he’ll spare me when he sees how pitiful I look. Or maybe it will be just too embarrassing for him to kill such a loser. It was a win-win situation.
- Why… me?
I tried my saddest voice. It wasn’t as effective when the sobs were constantly interrupting it.
- You were just in a wrong place at the wrong time...
The park
So he did kill someone there… and he just got rid of the body.
This guy had no soul.
No conscience.
It was useless.
Just moments before I was about to meet my end, my eyes cleared and I could finally see. He wasn’t a human.
He was a monster.
