Unlike the last two times, we spent this ,,car time” talking. The awkwardness of our almost kiss was long gone. So was my shyness. My speaker skills, which were usually pretty lame, have greatly improved that night. I used to think thoroughly about what I’ll say next, usually regreting saying it afterwards. But now, I didn’t think. The words were coming out of my mouth like they were waiting for a victim for a very long time.

I told him all about my earlier popularity, my parents, my depression, even my turning to religion for help. He just nodded and smiled, looking one moment at the windshield, one moment at me. I didn’t care if I was boring him, I didn’t care if he didn’t care. All the frustration just poured out, too fast for me to stop it.

However, any time I asked him a question, he would ably avoid answering it.

Although, he did nag something about how I dirtied his leather seats with my muddy ass. Also, he said that tonight we were going to San Diego and that he goes to a different town every night for a snack and ,,a little experience of human fun”.

Normally, my delusional mind immediately came up with a fact that the two of us meeting yesterday must have been destiny.

- You’re really into that whole ,,perfect moment” thing, aren’t you? – he said in one of his numerous mind readings. Come to think of it, I didn’t have to say a word the whole night, and he would have known everything anyway.

- Yeah, too many fairytales were read to me too many times. My favorite’s ,,Beauty and the Beast”, I know the whole thing by heart.

- Wow…

And so on…

It was so hot on that night that I felt like the air itself evaporated. There wasn’t even a dash of wind. That was the first Friday in a long time I spent outside my room, with a boy, and my first ever with a vampire.

My secret desires that there was no one else in the city were brutally crushed. It was like everybody exited their homes just so they would come and see me. Their stares burned my skin. I could literally feel physical pain.

Jack’s expression changed the moment he exited the car. Maybe he hated the crowd as much as I did. But then again, that was his food.

I really hoped that I didn’t have to relive the whole murder experience again. The good thing is that there was nothing for me to vomit this time.

- Here you go.

He handed me 5 bucks.

- For what?

- For food. Your stomach growled at least a million times in there.

- Oh, thanks…

In normal situations, I wouldn’t take money from someone just like that, my manners ordered me better, but this time I thought I was really gonna pass out if I didn’t swallow something in the next five minutes.

As I was taking the money, I wondered where he gets it. Was he a part of some royal rich family? Or does he just steal it from his victims? With my luck, it’s probably the second one.

- I’ll go eat, you go eat and then we’ll meet here. Ok?

- Ok…

Thankfully, I evaded his feeding this time, without being rude (my father REALLY paid attention to good behavior. That’s why he hired the professionals for that.).

Jack was gone before I could say anything else. He was probably already preying some poor fat guy on his way from work. I know you think I should feel disgusted at his killings and hunt for blood, but I looked at it this way: he was murdering humans for living, just like humans were murdering animals.
