C A S S I E
This morning, when I wake up, I find myself wrapped in Luke's arms. He's still sleeping soundly, and I gaze at his peaceful face.I can't believe that we made up last night—I don't have to torture myself anymore. I can finally accept that I want to be with him too, that I need him.
That I can trust him.
My gaze darts to his closed eyes, his long eyelashes, which I lightly touch with my finger. I trail my finger down to his nose, wondering how someone can have these perfect features.
"I see that you have a new hobby of playing with my face." Luke chuckles, making me abruptly pull my hand back. He opens his eyes, and my breath catches in my throat as I look at his beautiful hazel orbs.
"You're awake?" I squeak, feeling my face flush. This is so embarrassing. I feel my face turn red as a tomato.
A soft smile touches Luke's lips. "Good morning," he whispers.
The look in his eyes takes my breath away even more because he stares at me like waking up next to me is the most precious thing that has ever happened to him.
Hearing nothing from me, he smirks.
"You know, you can stare at my face as long as you want. I'll still allow it," he says, making me blush even more. "The only problem is that I'll fail something."
I stare at him with a blank expression, not knowing what he means. Curious, I ask, "Fail what?"
"Fail in not kissing you," he jokes.
I snuggle into his chest, burying my face in it as my heart beats rapidly. How can he be so casual like this? Flirting with me easily.
While here I am, still trying to absorb what's happening to us. "You're impossible," I growl.
Ladies and gentlemen, the playful Lucas Klein is back.
Luke pulls me closer to him and places a kiss on my forehead, creating butterflies inside my tummy.
"Damn," he groans. "I don't feel like going to work. You make me want to stay here in bed with you all the time."
A small smile forms on my lips. Who would have thought that the invincible Lucas Klein, the dedicated leader of Klein Enterprise, would say something like that?
Based on what I've heard about him, he's a bulldozer in the industry who can't wait to get rid of his enemies and execute his mission to be at the top every day.
"You still have to go to work, Mr. CEO."
"Goddammit," he mutters. "I've never wanted to skip a business day, and now look at what I'm doing. You're killing me, Cassie."
I let out a small laugh, wrapping my arms around his back as he tightens his hold on me.

Breakfast tastes more delicious than it usually does, probably because my heart is now filled with contentment.
I watch with a smile on my face as Aiden drinks his milk. Even though we've told him that he can skip school today if he's still not feeling better due to the accident yesterday, he insists that he still wants to go to school, all because he'll have his favorite subject today. Art.
After we finish our breakfast, Ms. Langston helps Aiden sling his backpack across his shoulders. Aiden looks like he can't wait to reach his school.
"I'm so excited for my first class today," he says with enthusiasm. "The teacher is going to tell us to watercolor on a really big paper, in a group."
