I knew something was up with bucky when he didnt come to the coffee shop that morning.

I worked at the local breakfast shop and it was buckys tradition to come and order a coffee every morning before picking me up and going back home.

I knew that bucky sometimes had to leave for superhero work but he always told me.

So when he didn't show up, it didnt worry me that bad.

"So why'd your boyfriend not come in today", renee asked.

Renee was the teenage daughter of the store owner and had been working here since the summer.

"He probably had to go on a work trip", I told her setting my tray down.

The thought ate at my mind as I took off my apron hanging it up,"I need to get going, it'll take me a lil bit to get home".

As I left the shop, I moved a little faster trying to get home faster, even climbing the stairs to our apartment I slowly ran up them.

Unlocking our door I burst in and froze seeing bucky at the kitchen table.

"Bucky what's wrong", I slowly asked, closing the door with my foot.

My heart was pounding in my chest as he looked up at me, this sad look in his eyes.

"(Y/n)", he said, not using (y/nickname) like he usually did.

"Bucky what's wrong", I asked and noticed the backpack strap the hung off his shoulder.

"I think...I think it's better if I leave", he said and my blood froze.

"Leave", I whispered and he looked down.

"I was talking with Steve and he said it might be better if I left, I could never live with myself If I hurt you", he said.

"So steve told you to leave", I whispered and he shook his head.

"No, just said that its dangerous for you", he said,"I decided I needed to go, I need to protect you by leaving".

"Leaving wont protect me", I said and he looked down, his hair falling around his eyes.

"I'm sorry (y/n)", he said and took a step towards me, reaching out his hand but I flinched back.

He looked down again before leaving to the door,"I'll always love you, I hope you know that".

I flinched and he sighed before shutting the door.

I sunk to the ground and started to sob, my heart clinching.
