Chapter 12: Interrogation (part 2)

Aizawa's POV

This kid's sure tiring.

"Your name is Midoriya Izuku, age 15, male. Am I correct?"

"Yep!" He cheerfully agreed.

"Birthdate: July 15, once lived with your mother in an apartment neighborhood, correct?"

"Uhuh!"

"Your mother's name is Inko Midoriya, am I correct?"

The kid nodded in agreement.

"You suddenly disappeared one and a half year ago after she died in an attack at the market with a sludge villain, am I correct?"

He suddenly became serious. I guess this topic is sensitive to him.

"Now I will ask you, at that time, where have you gone?"

He lowered his head which made me confused. All of a sudden, he laughed, slowly raising his head as he looked at me in the eye. He smiled and said,

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Then he changed his smile into a dead serious look on his face. And then he asked,

"If I told you where I was, would you really believe me?"

Hmm....

"Well.... I really think it will be much better if you tell us the truth about it."

He tilted his head in confusion, finally saying,

"Fair enough. I wouldn't really gain anything by lying to you since you already know who I was."

And then he told us everything. He said that after the funeral of her mother almost 2 years ago, he wandered everywhere with nowhere to go for months. One faithful night, he got attacked by the same sludge villain that ended his mom's life. He was saved by a passerby which happened to be Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of the League of Villains.

As he has the habit of gathering detailed intel about local heroes ever since he found out about his quirklessness and putting it in a series of notebooks, Shigaraki took a liking to it and proposed a deal with him.

"He told me that if I could gather intel about a number of people for him, he would give me anything that I wanted and make me a member of his league. There was nothing really that I wanted, I was just wasting time. I got nothing to do so I joined him. Afterwards sometimes I would withdraw from the league and wander about doing jobs for other people. And that's pretty much it!"

Hmm... So that's the story. I wasn't really sure if what he told us was the whole truth but he seems to be convincing. How about--

"I think he's telling the truth sensei. We could trust the things he told us about. I would know if he was lying but there is a gleam in his eyes that cannot deny the lifelessness he had with the story he just told us." the principal told me.

"I sure am ensured by what the principal said. I believe it too." Said the policeman.
I said,

"If that's the case then there's only one thing left."

The boy was happily listening to our conversation and nodding at every sentence. He looked at me and asked,

"What's that thing?"

Ignoring his question, I whispered to the principal, saying,

"What do you think, principal, will it work out?"

He replied,

"I think he still has a chance. I should be apologizing you for this huge favor sensei since you will be in charge of it."

I sighed. and told the kid,

"Kid, from tomorrow onwards you will be participating in my class at UA. Also, you will be attending additional classes for self-reflection. The government will provide your daily necessities and the school will give you your uniform and school supplies. I will be in charge of you from now on so we don't have a choice but to get along."

The kid seemed surprised.

"..........Eh?"
