Chapter 2 An Amazing Discovery

Splash! Saphira landed in water. When she surfaced, she looked around and saw walls of rocks with shells embedded in them. There were jewels on the base of the walls. Saphira was facinated by all the shimmering of the cave.

"You have arrived" announced a woman's voice.

Saphira jumped at the sound. Her heart was beating and she held her hand on her chest saying "My goodness! Do not frighten me like that."

She turned around and saw the most mystical sight possible to man... or woman ofcourse.

Saphira turned around to see the owner of the voice. "Woah!" Saphira marveled in amazement.  She saw a throne covered in gold and pearls.In the throne sat a beautiful blonde lady with sea shell in her hair and a golden crown with a diamond in the centre on her head.Her hair was in a messy fish braid and her eyes were a dark shade of teal.

She had on a silver halter top and she had a golden fish tail. her tail was adorned with different jewels and it shined like the sun. Around her werea few other mermaids dressed in different colours. They were decorated with things like seashells to starfish to sand dollars.

"Who are you?" Saphira asked the royal looking mermaid.

She smiled and replied "I am Amelia , Queen of the Mermaid Kingdom"

Saphira froze " Heh?"

"I know it's shocking but we do exist." the queen stated.

Saphira stuttered " So..W- Why am I here?"

"You are here because you have been chosen to become one of us." the queen informed.

"But how?" she asked.

"We have powers you know." the queen responded "Do you agree with our decision to make you a mermaid?"

"Ofcourse!" Saphira beamed " But I cannot be a full mermaid, I can't leave my friends and family."

"Then you shall be a half mermaid. " spoke the queen "You shall only get your tail when you touch water."

"Anything else?"

"Yes, you cannot tell a soul about us and do expose the Mermaid Kingdom " The queen ordered sternly.

"But..Can i tell my bestfriend Ally? She will keep the secret" Saphira begged.

"See.. I told you she couldn't be trusted ,she's just a filthy human." this brunette with an orange tail blurted out.

"You shut up! " Saphira ordered.

The mermaid kept quiet while glaring at Saphira.

"Please Queen Amelia. " pleaded Saphira.

"Okay." she agreed after some deep thought "But do you agree to the terms and conditions of this transformation? "

"What is this? Am I dowloading a game or something?" Saphira thought out loud.

The queen giggled, "No sweety, I just want to make sure you will be okay."

"I will " she reassured.

 

"Well it is time to send you home" Queen Amelia streched her hand out and created a white beam of light. The light hit Saphira and she started to disappear but right before she did, Saphira pointed at the rude mermaid from before "You!..I am not done with you! Don't you ever insult humans again! "

NEXT MORNING...

Saphira's alarm sounded with high pitches. Waking up early was the worst part of the day for her. You have to wake up with little energy and try to find more because there are a lot of things to do. You have to shower,  brush your teeth,  pick out and put in clothes,  fix your hair and then lift a bag full of books down the stairs.

Life......

"Where were you last night?" Mother inquired

"By the beach"

"Why?"

"Um...Just enjoying ...the fresh ocean air "

"Okay...sounds suspicious but I will let it slide"

Saphira breathed a sigh of relief. She's not very good at lying but she will have to get better if she is going to keep her secret.

AT SCHOOL....

"Hello bestfriend" Saphira said with a giant smile on her face.

"Okay what's up with the creepy looking smile? "

"Girl... I have things to tell you!"

" Is it better than an A in Math?"

"I believe so"

Saphira moved towards Ally and whispered "I'm a mermaid"

Ally froze then said "What?"

 

"It's true"

"Prove it" Ally dared her.

"No problemo. Challenge accepted"

Saphira dragged Ally to the other end of the school where the school's swimming pool was. It was an indoor pool that had a room for itself. They burst through the doors and locked them. Saphira jumped into the pool. She was surrounded by bubbles and sparkles as she transformed into the mystical being that she was born to be.

She climbed out of the pool so that Ally could get a good look at her.

Saphira's tail shimmered in the the sunlight that was peaking through the glass windows. Her tail was covered in a magical blend of green and yellow scales.  She had on a halter bikini top that matched with her tail.

"Oh my gosh. .. I'm so pretty!" Saphira said in astonishment.

"It's true. How did this happen?" Ally asked in amazement.

Ally walked towards her and moved her hands slowly across her tail.

"Hey that tickles."

"Oh sorry."

Saphira's tail dried and she changed back to a human. As the girls headed back to their lockers, which were right beside each other, Saphira explained everything that happened the day before. Ally understood  that it should be kept a secret especially because she did not want her bestfriend in a museum or swimmingin a tank  at a tourist attraction.

AFTER SCHOOL...

" Saphira it's time to go shopping." Ally spoke with excitement.

"Shopping?  Why?"

" For your MSP Kit"

" For my what?!"

Ally sighed "Your Mermaid Secret Protection Kit duh"

"Oh..Okay then . Let's go!"

They went a nearby store just around the corner. Then Ally picked up a few stuff. Saphira rummaged through the basket.

"Towel?"

"For tail drying"

"Baby Powder?"

"It dries moisture and you can throw it in people's faces."

"Lip gloss?"

"You have to look good my dear"

"A snapback? Seriously?  How is that suppose to help me?"

"Actually it's supposed to help me."

Saphira shook her head.

" What? You know I wanted one and you have a lot so you wouldnt know the struggle. "

"Very well."

Ally and Saphira purchased their items and they went their separate ways  to their houses after  a long day.
