Chapter 4 The New Guy

It was a beautiful Monday morning. Atleast for some but not for Saphira.

Her alarm rung and she was displeased.

"Uhh! Make it stop!" she shouted "Why must you wake me up from my lovely and peaceful sleep?"

Saphira's mother passed by her door " Nice to see you're waking up well" she giggled.

"Mom why can't we go to school a little later? Why must we have alarm demons waking us up so early?"

"Stop complaining and get ready for school or else you will be late."

"I swear if nothing exciting happens today im gonna scream."

Saphira put on her hot pink romper with short sleeves along with black flats. She ran down stairs and grabbed some toast then ran out the door.

AT SCHOOL

"Saphira!" Ally shouted while running frantically down the hall.

"What is it? Is there a fire?"

"No."

"A fight?"

"Nope."

"Did someone get run over?"

"No."

"Then what?"

"There's a foreigner."

"...."

"He's British."

"So you're running all over the school like some maniac just because a boy transferred here from Britain? "

"Yes"

"I'm beginning to question how we became friends. "

"It's because  we're both crazy" They both laughed at Ally's response. They talked for a while before class. In fact they were so into the conversation they didn't hear the bell.When they realized the time they began to sprint towards the classroom. All of a sudden there was a boom.

"Ow..." Saphira groaned in pain. She collided with a boy that was running on the opposite direction. When she looked up she saw a boy with caramel brown skin and silky black hair. He looked at her with his chocolate brown eyes.

"Are you okay?" he asked with his British accent being evident in his voice.

"Um yeah I'm okay " Saphira tried to play it cool while avoiding any awkward eye contact. "Just peachy." She smiled.

"Are you sure?  You hit your head." he reached out and touched her forehead gently.

"Ah! Don't touch it."

"I knew it. I am taking you to the nurse." He helped her up and proceeded to the nurse's office after telling Ally to explain to their teacher what had happened.

Saphira opened the door and stepped inside the office with the boy right behind her.

"And what brings you two here so early in the morning?" Nurse Jackie asked with a gentle voice. She was a kind lady who took care of the students. She was middle aged and had started to get wrinkles but it made her look even sweeter when she smiled. She always has her reddish brown hair in a bun with fit well with her nurse hat.

"Well..."

They explained the situation to Nurse Jackie then she instructed Saphira to lie down.

"They made the rule no running in the halls for a reason you know.I'm going to get you an ice pack honey, it will soothe the pain."

Saphira thought to herself "Ice pack equals melting. Melting equals water. Water equals tail....nope not planning on sprouting a tail infront of everyone"

"Um I'm fine,  there is absolutely no need for an ice pack." Saphira quickly said.

"With an impact like that you could have a mild concussion" she was concerned "Atleast lie down for a while and you need to watch her just in case she faints." Nurse Jackie headed towards the door.

"Where are you going ?" the teenagers asked.

"On a quick errand. I will send a note to your classes so that you are excused." she closed the door on her way out.

"What's your name by the way? I'm Saphira. "

"Tyler." he responded while he moved towards the bed beside her and sat down which made Saphira's heart skip a beat.

Saphira hid the fact that she thought Tyler was good looking even though it was basically written all over her face.

"So why did you come here?"

"My dad got a job over here so my family had to move."

"Oh...So do you like it here? "

"Eh it's alright but I'm having a very interesting first day." he smiled.

They talked for a bit and got to know each other a little more. The nurse returned and said it was alright for Saphira to leave now. By this time it was lunch.

"Hey Saphira is it okay for me to follow you around today?"

"Yes! Definitely! .... I mean It's cool"

Ally met Saphira and Tyler at the cafeteria.

"Saphira are you alright now?" Ally asked worriedly.

"Yeah and Tyler here decided to eat with us."

Ally pulled Saphira away and whispered "How did you get the new guy to sit with us? Did you seduce him?"

"No! What the heck?"

"Okay but you do kinda like him don't you?"

"What? "

"I can tell I'm your  bestfriend remember? "

"Well I only think he's cute,  I am not sure about any definite attraction yet."

"Yep she likes him."

Saphira shook her head as they headed back to the table.They had a fun filled  time at lunch , talking and laughing with one another. It was a cheerful scene.

When Saphira was on her way back home from school she thought "Well I guess there was actually something exciting at school after all. Finally, I have motivation to go to school. Well besides learning ofcourse. "
