I set down my cutlery as i swallow my last bit of lamb, feeling satisfied from the meal.
My mother clears her throat and begins speaking but i can't be bothered to listen. My eyes wander around the room before landing on all of the staff. I found myself looking for the blonde boy. I can't lie to myself, his character was intriguing.
I spotted all three of them from earlier and grin, waving my hand.
"Y/N. Can you listen for once?" my father grumbles and I tear my eyes off of them quickly and focus on my mother.
I cringe from all of my siblings eyes on me. I pick up my water and take a sip.
"We talked about suitors for my daughter and the boys going off and meeting lovely young women to marry. I've found multiple regal families with children your ages who are willing to meet" She claps her hands "and so, we have decided to host a ball to help Y/N choose a suitor"
I choke on my water but stop myself from coughing.
"What? A ball? How 1700's is this?" I laugh and my brothers glare at me to tell me to stop.
"Apologies" I mumble and put my glass down.
My mother shakes her head and continues to talk.
I tap my fingers on the table as my eyes flicker back over to the boys and Ejiro is holding back his laughter at me choking on my water. I try and suppress my smile and turn to face my mother again.
"...held on the 27th of this month so we have a lot of preparations to make before then such as invites and so on but we'll classify that with staff"
After that discussion, the dinner finishes abruptly and i leave the room, still hating the idea of being married off.
"Y/N" Shota calls me over by the staircase. I walk towards him and take a seat on the steps, groaning.
"I know you probably don't want to do this-" he starts.
"You're correct"
He sighs "but, it's what's best for you"
"I want to see the city. I've been in palaces and big gardens my whole life. And now i'm just going to see more of that with the curse of a stupid- sorry, incompetent - man by my side" I place my elbows on my knees and rest my head on my hands.
"I understand that but you don't want to have your whole family turn against you" He says, knowing all about that.
"I know..."
"Mr. Aizawa" Ejiro gives him a toothy grin and a wave. He catches sight of me and nods in greeting.
"Kirishima" He nods "Shouldn't you be out at the front?"
"On my way there now, sir! Aren't i doing great as a hero?" he flexes his arms and suddenly the skin hardens into rock.
That must be his quirk "woahhh that's amazing" I stare.
He blushes from the compliment "Chee, princess, don't make me die of a heart attack"
My eyes widen "Do you need someone?"
Aizawa pats my head "It's a saying"
My mouth form an O shape in realisation.
"Anyway, off you go now, Kirishima"
"Yes sir" he salutes and walks towards the large front door.
"And you, Y/N, up to bed. It's 8:30"
"So early. When i stayed around yours i could stay up forever" I whine.
"And it was irresponsible of me, off you go"
"Can i at least talk to Shinso first?" I plead.
"You have all day tomorrow, up to bed" he says sternly and i conform.
I slouch my shoulders as i walk when my mother comes through the hall.
"Shoulders back, young lady" her harsh tone bounces off the walls.
Once she's left i turn to Aizawa and mock her "blah blah blah"
He shakes his head and tries to push down a laugh.
Entering my room, I shut the door to be met with Reisuki.
"Oh uhm, i'll call you up. I'm not going to bed yet" I smile softly and she bows her head in respect.
I pull back my curtains to be met with the person i'm expecting. I use my strength to push open the large door and step onto my balcony.
"What do you want?" he grumbles.
"This is my balcony. I'm not here for you" I sigh and rest my arms along the stone surrounding the edge of the balcony as a barrier. The spiked blonde mutters to himself.
I stare at the setting sun as i inhale the evening air, allowing my mind to clear.
"You always wear that shit?" A rough voice interrupts my peace.
I turn to face him and notice he's staring at my gown. I glance downwards and look at it too "yeah i do, why are you wondering?"
"Looks uncomfortable" he mutters, his arms crossed over his chest as his feet are shoulder width apart.
"I haven't worn much else so i don't know if it's uncomfortable compared to other clothing... Do you always wear that?" I ask about his own outfit.
"Nah, it's my hero costume. Cool as fuck, right?"
I shrug "Yeah, i guess"
A gust of wind shuts the balcony door which makes me jump from the crash.
"You scared of that?" he laughs.
"No, it was just an unexpected loud noise." I feel embarrassment wash over me.
He grunts and turns his head to face the sunset as he leans against the wall.
I twist my body to look out again "Are you from the city?"
"Sort of. A little bit outwards but i've been there"
"I'd love to see it" I rest my chin on the palm of my hand as I gaze out past the tall trees which surround the palace.
"Never been to the city? Like ever?"
"Not at all, not once"
"Sorta sucks. Shits kinda boring here no offence" he mumbles. I hum in agreement.
Suddenly, a light bulb goes off in my head and i spin to face him, my eyes glittering with excitement.
"You could take me there"
He laughs at first, thinking it was a joke but his expression soon returns to a serious one "What? No way." he shakes his head.
"Why not?"
"I'm here to keep you safe" he rolls his eyes.
"we'll you're a hero aren't you? You can keep me safe in the city!" I take steps towards him.
"I'd be fired. You know how bad that would look for me?"
"I'll take the blame if we get caught. Please take me to the city" I beg with my eyes.
He stares at me for a moment, his jaw tensed.
"No. I can take pictures of it if you'd like and show you it that way"
I sigh in disappointment "I guess it's better than nothing"
"Take it or leave it, i don't give a fuck"
I glare at him for his language but reply "I'll take it"
"Okay, i'll do that tomorrow"
"Thank you!" i drag out my words.
He grunts "aren't you meant to be sleeping?"
"probably"
He shakes his head, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards "then go"
"Right!"
