Lightning crackled along the sky, the scared children clung to their mother's wings, chest and neck. Hawks would've much preferred to fly but Shoto would've screamed and cried which would've caused Himiko to cry and then Fumikage. Along with rain making the children's' grip slippery. It wouldn't be worth the combined risks for now. What he needed was a safe place just for the night.
"Mama I'm-" Hawks quickly shushed the upset little girl. If Himi started complaining then Fumi would be right on her tail. Sho was still clinging to his neck and had tears on the boarders of his eyes. Soon a small object comes into view. It seemed to be an empty rundown house, the building being boarded up and in a state of disrepair. Hawks wanted to run over and check it out, but the danger was too high. He quickly sent a couple of feathers over and ran behind a nearby tree. Hawks hunched down as he waited to make sure the coast was clear. He looked down at teary eyed children, putting on a fake smile to keep them calm. The winged man quickly ran to the abandoned house's door once the coast was clear and shut it immediately behind him. He released the breath he was holding and put the 3 small children on the couch to go make a place for them to sleep. He left 3 feathers behind just in case.
Almost immediately, the little raven jumped off the couch and waddled to the nearest window. Excited to watch the rain fall without having to be in it. His little fingers gripping onto the frame. The little white fox with red splotches shaking off the water as best as he could. Soon after he carefully sniffed around the furniture, taking on his new surroundings. The strawberry blonde fox found herself happily chewing on the leg of a table that was close. The 3 siblings kept exploring the couch and the area around it until their father came to take them.
"Himiko we don't put random things in our mouths." Hawks quickly picked up the infant fox from the table leg. The tiny girl turned to put her paw in her mouth instead. More then a couple of feathers took the young girl into the quickly made nest. It was random blankets and pillows in one of the bedrooms. It was the only bedroom where the bed wasn't broken beyond belief or with splitting wood chips littered everywhere. Hawks picked up the second boy and used his feathers to take him to bed. Suddenly a flashed across the window of the old house. The crying toddler ran across the room to his mother's open, welcoming arms. He sighed with content rubbing the scared child's back, walking back to the main bedroom. Hawks quickly closed the door and put the scared little boy in the giant nest where his sleepy sister was laying.
"Mama why the sky bright? When it dark but bright?" Fumikage asked his mother. "It's lightning buddy." Hawks answered, somehow understanding his toddler's incoherent sentences. "Now come to bed little buddy." Fumi happily waddled to his mother's arm and placed carefully into the nest, happily nestling between his siblings. Hawks watched them curl together in his lap, making sure they were close. Hawks watched each of them fall asleep, rubbing Himko's head. Shoto was sleeping peacefully despite their troubles. He was going to make sure they got home. No matter how far it possibly is.
