Those words echoed in my head over and over. "Once you see the boss you never come back out alive." Was I truly on my way to die? I was still in my 20's I still had so much to learn, so much to do and now it seemed like everything was going to be over for me before it could get started.
According to Alexander, to meet the boss ultimately meant death. Would I be willing to die for a person I had never even met before? Was I really going to just sit here and come to terms with my fate. I'm not sure. Deep down I knew I wouldn't want to accept this. To die for anyone other than dying naturally would be strange.
"Umm Alexander?" I asked coyly. "What is it Holly?" "How close are we until we get to meet the boss?" Generally, I was curious but also I needed to know what I wanted to know how much time I had left to prepare myself. Suddenly the car came to a complete stop. "Had we really gone up the mountain that fast?" I wondered. I stepped out of the car and noticed that we had made it on the side of a cliff surrounded by tons and tons of Deciduous trees. The clouds surrounded the trees in a mysterious manner. I began to think why had we arrived in the middle on nowhere to meet a boss. Did the boss not want to be seen, or was he not allowed to be seen.
Right when I was about to ask Alexander where were we going, the clouds suddenly cleared. In front of us appeared to be a old majestic building that was thousands of years old. The castle appeared to be gray, with two waterfalls coming from each side. The sound of the water falling was concealed with the emptiness of the atmosphere.
"Come on, this is where we will leave you" said Alexander.
I somehow convinced myself to take a few steps up that led me to the front entrance of this historical building. I couldn't believe that I had already arrived here, and now I was simply going to be abandoned. Maybe the boss wanted his privacy when we would first meet, or if we would meet. Alexander told me there was no guarantee that I would meet him upon arrival.
Alexander and Anja stayed outside when I had reached the top step to the building. There had to be around 50 stairs that I climbed just to reach the Sodalite doors that were engraved with carvings of Obsidian. I wanted to knock, but the 50 pound doors opened themselves. I thought to myself " Should I just walk in or should I wait?"
I turned back to ask Alexander and Anja if I should wait but they were gone. "Okay" I thought. "I'll guess I'll just walk in." The inside of the building was just as unfriendly as the outside. Nothing in particular caught my eye immediately. I decided to walk around. If I was going to meet the boss I would have to live here right? I might as well get used to my surroundings.
In what seemed like forever, I walked down endless long halls that had trims of Fluorite on the boarder of the walls. Many doors exceeded the interior, but all of appeared to be locked. Just as I was fixing to turn back a light caught my eye. "How had I not noticed this before?" I thought. An entry way that was lined with hibiscus embroidery was in the middle of the hallway. I carefully looked around and began to enter. This room had a certain familiarity to it. "I know I hadn't been here before" I thought.
This room appeared to have stacks and stacks of scrolls. The embroidery aligned the walls in such a delicate way that it must have been made years ago. I carefully observed the scrolls, picking each one up carefully in order not to break it.
A cold chill entered the room. I turned around and noticed a man stood behind me. My face suddenly froze in shock. "Is this the boss?" I wondered. His Tiffany Blue eyes looked at me with such a coldness, but yet it felt as if he was trying to be compassionate.
We stood observing each other. My words fell short and nothing was able to come out of my mouth. Slowly his hand caressed my cheek. I noticed he didn't say much while he was observing my features.
