Bar Fight

I walked around my room with my towel securely wrapped around my waist.

My dad is out with his friends yet again. On a Friday night, shouldn't I be the one out? I am only eighteen, I shrugged on my leather jacket taking the steps two at a time.

I was lightly humming along to the music playing through my car slowing down as the light flicked from yellow to red. A large crowd of fifty or so people were gathered outside the bar. There faces lit up delightfully and others just looked drunk. I slammed my door shut the deafening sound of several voices melted together greeted my ears.

I shoved my way through the crowd of sweaty bodies; readjusting my jacket.

Two men were in the middle fighting like animals. The big burly guy kneed his opponent in the stomach several times. Before jabbing his elbow down into his back. I looked around the circle trying to spot my father. What would the odds be that I'd actually see him here?

The neon lights flickered above and the crowd died down into silence. I looked towards the makeshift wring. My father stood in the middle with blood smeared over his forehead. His eyes were glassy and he staggered to the side before momentarily regaining his balance. He lifted his hands up slowly fist clenched tightly. He swung it towards the burly guy before he caught it, twisting his arm jabbing him in the face.

I jumped out into the center of the wring hearing the crowd cheer wildly. My dad shuffled towards me a sloppy drunken grin stretched across his face.

He tripped falling on my chest his blood smearing across my white shirt. He composed himself the best he could slinging his arm over my shoulder.

"What'a ya doing here shon?" I ignored his question dragging him to my car.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going pretty boy?!" Big Burtha spat. I glanced back at him as he started charging towards my car. I pushed my dad in the front seat before running to my side. My car roared to life as I sped off towards home my tires screeching on the pavement.

The following days of my weekend I was caught in a whirlwind of rescuing my father. He would get so drunk that he never knew what happened afterwards. After I saved him Friday I woke up to my dad cheerfully making breakfast seemingly unaffected by last nights events. While I on the other hand looked like complete shit. Dark bags were under both my eyes and my hair stuck up in every angle imaginable.

On Saturday my dad was back at Queno's Bar. In the middle of the makeshift wring fighting or at least trying to. On Sunday I guess I was expected to come and save my dad by the fighter. So you guessed it I had to fight on Sunday.

The -Mr.T look alike-shoved my dad on the ground roughly. When I went to help him up he punched me in the back. I'm surprised that when he saw my father lying there on the ground he didn't 'Pity the fool.' I wouldn't be able to recall if I won or not but I do know I now have a broken rib. My flesh is still purple bruised and very tender.

I saw a curly head of hair that I've grown to recognize all too well make its way towards me. Her lips were pulled up in the corners showing off her straight teeth. I kept my face void of any emotion as she flung herself into my arms. I cringed slightly Dawn backed away her large warm eyes examining my face worriedly.

The first bell rung signaling class starting to begin. Her eyes broke away from my face before we started walking to our first class together.

I don't know how this girl has grown attached to me all I know is that she just did. For all she knows I could be a serial killer. We don't even have conversations just a little small talk here or there but nothing major. Who knows what this thing is called between us I just know it's there.
