"George, wake up." Dream's soft, loving voice was enough to wake George from his sleep. He rubbed his eyes absentmindedly as he looked up at his boyfriend. "Morning," he smiled. The night before, they had stumbled upon an old hotel which they cleared out. George attempted to get up off the bed before being pulled back down by his boyfriend. "No, I made you breakfast in bed." It wasn't much, honestly, it was pretty gross. Old eggs that tasted like rust and poorly made pancakes that Dream had attempted to whip up sat on the plate in front of him. It didn't matter though, George was overjoyed at his boyfriend's efforts to please him. "I know it's not that great but-" He was interrupted by George's soft lips against his. "I love it."

They both smiled at each other until Dream's eyes widened as. He quickly stumbled over to the fridge, coming back almost instantly. The fridge didn't keep anything cold, but they still used it as a storage area for their food almost out of habit. "I almost forgot." He handed George a bottle of syrup that he had found one day on a supply run.  He had kept it, knowing that one day he would have to make his beloved some disgusting pancakes. "The pancakes probably aren't that good. I'm not the best cook. Plus, they are kind of old." George sighed playfully. "Dream, stop. I love it. Thank you." Dream smiled as George took a bite of his awful food. They had gotten used to it by now. They had to. It's not like they would be able to have a five-star meal ever again, or even a one-star for that matter.

As George finished his food he couldn't stop thinking about the box. It was at Dream's old house. George's thoughts were interrupted by Dream. "Hey, um. We're running low on food again. I know it'll be even scarier going out after-" George interrupted. "Don't say it, please. I'm fine. I can go." Dream looked down at the bed beneath him, twirling his fingers. "Ok, um. I'm sorry." George's face faded into a confused look. "I- I just, ya know. It's my fault this happened. I didn't follow procedure. I- if I had done what we normally did maybe-" George put a hand on Dream's shoulder. "Clay, please stop. It's not your fault." Dream looked up to George, tears filling his eyes. "It should have been me. I- I wish it was me" George's eyes widened and tears began to fill his eyes. "No, don't- don't say that ever again."

Dream looked up at George, pulling him into a much-needed hug. George pulled away seconds later. "Clay, please tell me that you aren't going to- um. Just- just tell me that I'm not gonna lose you." Dream looked at his boyfriend, realizing what he meant. "No, no! Never, I would never do that. I promise." George gave Dream a half-smile before throwing his arms around him once more. The two lied there for a while before Dream drifted off to sleep, George doing the same moments later.

-

Dream stood on one side of the car, Sapnap stood on the other. "Sapnap?" Tears filled in his eyes. "Uh, yeah? Are you crying?" Dream rushed over to his friend, embracing him in a hug. "What's wrong with you? Yes, it's Sapnap. Are you good?" Dream wiped the tears from his eyes as he tried to recall how he got here. The last thing he had remembered was going to sleep with George cuddled in his arms. That was it. This was a dream. Shit, he thought to himself. He wished it were real but he knew better than that. Maybe he could have a chance to save Sapnap this time, only in his dream of course.

Sapnap stared at the boy, who was too deep in his thought to notice a hand waving in front of his face. "Earth to Dream?" Dream snapped out of his thoughts, releasing his tensed shoulders. "Sorry, sorry. Um, let's go in." Sapnap looked at Dream with a confused look but brushed it off, walking ahead. He starts to open the door until he is stopped by Dream. "What the hell, man? Why the fuck are you acting so weird?" Dream lifted his protective grasp from his friend, opening his mouth to speak. "I just don't want us to get hurt."

Dream knew that this was a dream so he wanted to face it head-on. He needed to. "I'll take this side and you take that side." Dream's eyes widened as his friend shifted his body around. "No! Sorry, I mean no. We are sticking together." Sapnap shook his head, rolling his eyes in return. Dream slowly walked toward the side of the store, the place where his friend had died. He put his hand behind him. shielding Sapnap from any danger. Suddenly, an infected jumped onto Dream, biting into his leg.

"Dream! No!" Sapnap cried out. Dream smiled. He got what he wanted. It was him, just like it should have been. "G-George. Let me say bye." Dream coughed out the words, just as Sapnap did before. Sapnap ran to the car quickly bringing George back. Of course, this was a dream but George's reaction hurt. It hurt so bad. George grabbed his hand, peppering it with kisses before pressing their lips together. George sobbed on Dream's chest, and Dream sobbed with him. "I love you." Those words made Dream's heart shatter. George said it all the time but this time his words were coated with so much emotion.

"Goodbye, George. I love you." Dream's eyes fluttered shut as his head became too heavy to hold up. He was still conscious but when he lifted his head everything was blurry and he wasn't in control of his body. His head plunged forward at George as his mind begged his body to stop. He felt his teeth rip the boy's skin off as a shiny object shot through his chest. He saw two blurry figures along with muffled screams. "G-G-G-G-" He was slightly able to regain his words but couldn't form a sentence. Whatever he tried to say sounded more like growls rather than English. His eyes watered as his head fell and his world went dark.
