8 December 10:27 PM.
Aaron POV:I walked inside my room and jumped right into my bed. "Maybe I should check up on Odette" I silently said to myself. After some minutes of going back and forth I finally decided to call her. "Hi Odette, how are you?" "I'm good Aaron, how about you? Did something happen?" she said in a quite concerned tone. "I don't know if you forgot, but you kinda stormed off and left us thinking that something happened to you" after I said that we both stayed silent for a good minute.
"I know, and I'm sorry I made you guys worried, I was just really mad and didn't think clearly" she said in an apologetic tone. I sighed "It's fine, I understand, just be more careful next time, okay?" "Don't worry, I will" she said in a more confident and reassuring voice. "Oh shit, I gotta go, talk to you later?" "Yeah sure, don't worry" "Okay then, bye bye!" she said closing the call.
I placed my phone on my desk and started to change to something more casual. After I was done I started making my way to the kitchen to make myself something to eat. While I was preparing my food some thoughts started wondering through my mind.
Maybe this is all a dream, maybe if I go to sleep everything will go back to normal. Who am I trying to fool? This is real. This isn't a dream nor a nightmare. I can't go back to normal. WE can't go back to normal. We're all trapped in this situation. Together...do we even want to do this? Or maybe I should start asking myself if we even have a choice in all of this. Guess we're writing a new chapter in our lives. Can we even tell our parents about this? This is all messed up. I'm gonna go crazy over this. I don't understand this. Why is this even happening to us? We're not special or anything like that. For fuck's sake, we were just some normal teenagers with normal lives last year. We just graduated, and now we're invited to this stupid ball. Before I could get angrier than I already was, I started to take a deep breath to calm myself down. "This is really starting to get annoying" I said with a sigh escaping my lips.
After I finished eating my food I started to slowly make my way to the bedroom, so I can get some rest. I laid for a while on my bed, quietly listening to the rain. "Seems like the rain isn't gonna stop any soon, huh?" I said while I slowly started to drift off to sleep.
9 December, 4:12 AM.
I suddenly woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. "I'm not gonna get up. Whoever is calling can wait" I said groaning. After a few minutes of trying to ignore the constant ringing, I finally gave up and picked up the phone. I first thought that Peter was calling me to try to make me smoke with him, but after I took a quick glance to the caller's name, my eyes widened.
"Open the door" "What the actual hell Victoria, is four in the morning" I said trying to figure out what was happening. "I'm aware" and that was the only thing she said before I started to hear loud knocks coming from the front door. I quickly made my way to the door and opened it. "Hey Aaron, thanks for opening the door" Victoria said slowly making her way past me.
"Do you mind telling me why did you wake me up and came all the way here?" I said breaking the silence "Sorry for disturbing you, but I really needed to see you" she said in a formal manner. "And it was really necessary to disturb me at this hour because....?" "You're the only option I have left" "Ouch, that hurt" I said while making a dramatic pose. "Well I wanted to meet Theodore, but he's at Odette, so I didn't want to disturb them-" my jaw fell to the floor when I heard what Victoria was telling me "What do you mean?" I said in a nervous voice, "Huh?" Victoria turned her gaze towards me, "So you're telling me Theodore is with Odette?" "He's at her house, so yeah" Victoria said in a monotone voice "But this isn't why I'm here" she said trying to avoid the subject and awkward situation.
"Look what I found" she said while handing me an envelope. "What's this?" I said with a puzzled look on my face "Just open it" Victoria said with a sigh escaping her lips. I carefully open the envelope to see what's hidden inside. I slowly picked up the paper that was inside and started to read silently what was written on it. "So just to be clear" "You came all the way here, at FOUR in the morning, just to give me an envelope that is informing us that the ball has a very strict dress code, is that correct?" I said with a tired look on my face "Pretty much, yeah" she said raising an eyebrow "I am seriously wondering sometimes if you can tell the difference between what's extremely serious and what's just some small useless detail" I said with a disappointed look on my face.
"Well Aaron, it is the royal ball after all so every 'small useless detail' is important" she said with a serious look on her face. "If you say so" I said shrugging it off "Do you mind if I make some tea?" Victoria said while heading to the kitchen "Be my guest" I said while taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Great, thanks" she said, while starting to boil the water.
