11 December, 8 AM.
Peter POV:
Wind moving my hair out of my face, smoke in the air. The perfect morning. Then my phone rang.I didn't bother to respond, thinking that it would stop ringing if I ignore it. It didn't. "This person is really impatient, this better be worth it." I picked up the phone to see who was calling. I stared at the phone for a second before I responded. "What do you want?" I said in a slightly aggressive tone, "A little defensive there, don't you think?" "I'm not really in the mood, so this better be worth it" "Calm down Peter, I wanted to tell you to check your mailbox" I remained quiet for a minute "Why should I check my mailbox Victoria?" I asked slightly confused by the sudden demand "All of us received invitations to a ball, so we wanted to know if you did too" and to my surprise this became even more confusing "Victoria, I don't have time for these things" I was about to hang up the phone until Victoria said "Peter just check your mailbox, I'm dead serious, don't make me come there and force you to do that" she said, slightly annoyed by my attitude "Okay, ill go check" I hear a sigh "Thank you, just text me if you received the invitation" "Okay, I'll make sure to text you" "That's all I needed from you. I'll see you later" and then I heard the call end.
I finished my cigarette and I went to check the mailbox. I didn't expect to find anything there, but to my surprise I found a letter. "So Victoria didn't lie" I looked at the envelope for a second. I wasn't quite sure if I should really open it or not. At the end of the day it was a strange and random letter that just appeared in my mailbox.
"Well fuck it" and with that said I opened the letter and began to read it.
"Dear Peter Maxwell,
I'm delighted to tell you that you're invited to the Royal Ball that we hold every year in this period of time. This ball is very special because we have you as our guest. The date of this special event is 17th of December at 9:00 PM. Thank you for your unconditional support. The Royal family appreciates you.
I'll see you there,
The Majesty."
"What the actual hell" "Why would we be invited to this ball, we're not even royalties, this doesn't add up" I picked up my jacket and ran outside."We need to meet up, right now" "Oh, so I understand that you did receive the invitation" "Yes I did. Now tell the others to come to the café" "Okay then, I'll go tell them, see you there zenzero" I put my phone in the pocket and started hurrying to the café.
After some minutes of waiting I heard the bell from the café door ringing. "Long time no see mon chéri" a girl that stood in front of me said. Her blonde long hair complemented her soft features pretty well, her deep blue eyes were staring at me, analyzing my movements and her cheeks and nose were red from the cold. She looked like a pretty hard person to forget. "Odette" Her name left my mouth, expecting her to be late as per usual. She sat down on the chair next to the window, looking at me for a second "Yes Peter that's me, Odette" she said in a sarcastic tone "Thanks for assuring me" "Any time" she said with a smile on her face
"So you received the letter too, am I right?" "Yeah, you did too, right?" "Yeah" after we talked a bit more the others started to show up.
"We all know why we're here, right?" "Yes" we all responded in unison "The invitations we received to the ball, do any of you know why we got them?" Victoria asked looking at us. She was a tall and slender woman. Her sharp features being in a perfect contrast with her gentle and caring aura. "Well we're not royalties that's for sure, maybe is a scam" a guy with red dyed hair and stormy gray eyes said. His stare was intense and his features were a combination of sharpness and softness. "I don't really think is a scam Aaron" a girl with curly black hair, chocolate brown eyes and brown glowing skin said. She had a slight blush across her cheeks complementing her full red tinted lips.
"Aria, how you're really sure that is not a scam?" "She's right, the invitations are not a scam" a guy with brown wavy hair and blue piercing eyes confirmed her statement before he continued drinking his coffee. His movements were elegant and subtle, helping you imagine his whole 'rich and privileged' kid status a whole better. "How do you know that Theodore?" Odette began to ask. Theodore looked at her for a second. He put his coffee down and began to say "My family had some business going on with the royal family and we had been invited a few times. I never got to go though, they said I was too 'young' for it" he mumbled the last part, seeming like he still got a grudge against his parents not allowing him into the family business when he was younger. "Anyways, I compared the past invitations and the invitations we got and they matched perfectly".
"So we're really invited to this Royal Ball?" Aria asked "Apparently" I responded. "Are we really going to this ball?" Aaron began to ask in a slightly impatient tone, "You know what? Yeah, we're going to this ball. We don't have anything to do anyways. Do you guys have something planned on the 17th of December?" Odette began to speak up "No" we said in unison.
"Then is settled, we're going to the Royal Ball".
