Avengers

*Time skip to one year later*

''MARIA!'' I was just looking at some files on her desk and I found something that I didn't quite understand. ''What is it Alex?'' she asked. ''Can you tell me what the Avengers Initiative is?'' ''Do you think it is information you must have?'' ''Yes, I am curious. I have questions and I need answers.'' ''I guess you're right. The Avengers initiative is an idea of bringing toghether a group of remarkable people. Earth's mightiest heroes.'' ''Why have I never heard of it?'' ''Because, it never came true. It was just another unfinished project. Questions answered?'' ''Yes.'' ''Great, come on. We're having lunch.''

We stood in a circle. Ready to attack. There were only coming more creatures through the portal. ''Guys...'' Nat said. That's when Steve spoke up ''Alright listen up. Until we can close that portal, our priority is containment. Barton I want you on that roof. Eyes in everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more then three block out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash.'' ''Can you give me a ride Tony?'' Clint asked. We were already great friends from S.H.I.E.L.D. ''Right, anytime. Better clench up, Legolas.'' and with that they were gone. ''Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up.'' The God nodded and with a sling from his hammer he flew up into the air. He turned to us ''You, Alex and me, we stay here on the ground. We keep the fighting here. And Hulk...'' the big guy snarled towards Steve ''Smash.'' He gave a smirk and jump on a building smashing chitauri.

*During fighting*

''What else you got?'' we were still fighting and Tony was in a mood ''Thor is taking on a squadron down on Sixth.'' Clint responded ''And he didn't invite me.''

I was with Nat kicking ass when someone jumped from behind me, seconds later I realized it was just Steve ''Geez, I thought you were an alien!'' Nat stood besides me looking up ''Captain, none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal.'' she said. ''Our biggest guns couldn't touch it.'' ''Well, maybe it's not about guns.'' I suggested ''If you want to go up there you're going to need a ride.'' he said I looked up to the incoming machines ''I got a ride. I could use a boost though.'' ''Are you sure about this?'' ''Yeah. It's gonna be fun.'' I sprinted towards Steve, bounced of his shield and catched up with the machines.

''Okay, turn, turn. Less! Less! How am I supposed to steer this damn thing!''

I saw Eric Selvig lying on the gound, slowly getting up.

''Captain, the bank on 42nd past Madison. They've cornered a lot of civilians in there.'' Clint said through comms ''I'm on it.''

*Meanwhile at S.H.I.E.L.D*

Director Fury, the Council had made a decision.

''I recognize the Counsel has made a decision. But given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I have elected to ignore it.''

Director, you're closer than any of our subs. You scrumble that jet-

''That is the island of Manhatten, Counsilman. Until I'm certain that my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population.''

If we don't hold them here, we lose everything.

''If I sent that bird out, we already have.''

*Back to the fight*

I looked behind me and saw Loki trying to catch me ''Oh you. Clint!'' ''Alex, what are you doing?!'' ''A little help?'' ''I got him..'' Clint shoots the arrow, but Loki easily catches it. What he doesn't know is that it is an explosive arrow... 

I jump on the roof where the scepter is. I walked towards the scepter when I heard a voice behind me. I realized it was Selvig ''The scepter...'' ''Doctor.'' ''Loki's scepter. The energy. The Tesseract can't fight, but you can't protect against yourself.'' ''It's not your fault. You didn't know what you were doing.'' I assured him ''Actuallt, I think I did. I build in a safety to cut their power source.'' ''Loki's scepter.'' ''It may be able to close the portal. And I'm looking right at it.''

I picked up the scepter. ''Right at the crown!'' ''I can close it. Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down.'' ''Do it!'' Steve said, but Tony's voice cut through ''No, wait.'' ''Stark these things are still coming.'' ''I got a nuke coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put him.'' ''Stark you know that's a one-way trip.'' ''Save the rest for the turn J.'' Sir, shall I try Miss Potts?  ''Might as well.'' I saw Tony fly just into the portal.

A few minutes later, I thought I would never see him again ''Come on, Stark..'' ''Close it.'' Steve said. I looked up one more time before closing the portal. However, right before it close Tony Stark dropped out of the sky. ''Son of a gun'' ''He's not slowing down.'' Right before he could fell on the ground, Hulk grabed him. ''Is he breathing?'' no response. Hulk was being impatient and roared and with a gasp Tony's eyes flew open ''What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nowbody kissed me.'' Yep that was definitely our Tony ''We won'' ''All right, yay! Hurray, good job guys! Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever ytied shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two block from here. I don't know what it is, but I want to try it.'' ''We're not finished yet.'' Thor interrupted. ''And then shawarma after.'' ''Okay everyone meet eachother at the tower where Loki is.''

A few minutes later we were all together confronting the God of Misschief 

''If it is al the same to you, I'll have that drink now.''

*Counsilmeeting*

Where are the Avengers?

''I'm not currently tracking their whereabouts. I'd say they've earned a leave of absence.''

And the Tesseract?

''The Tesseract is where it belongs. Out of our reach.''

That's not your call

''I didn't make it. I just didn't argue with the God that did.''

So you let him take it and the war criminal, Loki, who should be answering for his crime.

''Oh, I think he will be.''

I don't think you understand what you've started, letting the Avengers loose on this world. They're dangerous.

''They surely are and the whole world knows it. Every world knows it.''

Was that the point of all this? A statement?

''A promise.''

*End counsilmeeting*

''Sir how does it work now?' Maria asked ''They've gone their separate ways. Some pretty extremely far. If we get into a situation like this again, what happens then?'' ''They'll come back. And we always have back-up from your sister.'' ''Of course, but she is still 13 years old. How are you so sure they will come back?'' ''I just am.'' ''But why?'' ''Because we'll need them to.'' with a nod she walked off and got back to work. 

As promised, some time later we were eating shawarma in a empty restaurant...

A/N: Geez, this was a really long chapter to write. Maybe there will be some more chapters like this, but only if I have the time for it, because it is already 1 a. m here. So I'm going to sleep for a few hours.
