Kai has always vowed to protect Lloyd, but he gets himself in trouble and Lloyd is the one to save him this time.

Kai has always been the independent one. Certainly not the most reliable (that was Zane's job), but independent. He did his own thing - he was a leader, never a follower and he truly believed in that. It was his motto; his life phrase; one that he would always go by.

So when Nya called an emergency meeting, he was the first one off the gaming console and found his way to the navigation room in the bounty, where they have most of their meetings and important discussions. His sister greeted him frantically.

"Where are the others?" She asked.

Kai glanced around, seeing no one else in sight. They were probably still looking for their gis - pft, amateurs. "Just tell me what's going on." He demanded.

The girl pointed to the large screen showcasing a map, with a moving red pin point. "I don't know how, but that she-devil escaped from prison." Nya shook her head with a scowl, watching the pin point move further and further from Ninjago city.

Kai shook her shoulders. "Who?!"

"Ultra violet!"

Kai stepped back. "If she escaped, then that means she could have caused so much damage to the city already!" He groaned in frustration. "Where are the others?!"

Nya walked towards the intercom. "I'll call another emergency. Maybe they forgot."

"No," Kai pulled his mask over his face, a fierce look of determination shadowing over his features. "I'll handle it." He ran to the top of the bounty, ignoring his sister's cries to stop him. He reached the edge of the bounty, his feet wobbling as he balanced himself before glancing down. White, fluffy clouds floated from below him, and Kai took a deep breath before leaping, soon falling through the cold mist of those clouds.

A squeal of excitement escaped his mouth as he flew down. Feeling the wind slap his face, the cold air tinge his cheeks. It was exhilaration and freedom all at once. It was something he constantly craved even when he was a young boy. It was one of the reasons he loved being a ninja. Being stuck in his father's dingy, stuffy forge made him feel suffocated. The feeling he felt when he first became the fire ninja was a memory that he would never give up - no matter how selfish it seemed.

He called his dragon, landing safely on it's back. It roared in excitement, already knowing the path they had to take. Kai smirked. "Come on, big guy."

Landing into Ninjago city was easy enough. His red dragon roared loudly through the big sky, warning the people to move out of the way for a safe landing. Kai hopped off and landed on his feet gracefully enough—after many times of practice and time spent with Flame (yes, that's what he named his dragon), he was able to maneuver himself around the big giants body well enough.

"Wait here for me. I'll be back soon." Kai nodded towards Flame, a look of determination painted on his face.

Scared onlookers looked at the fire ninja roaming through their city, looks of hope and courage reappearing on their faces. Kai smirked at them, even giving the occasional wink towards some girls who squealed in excitement. A chuckle of contentment escaped his chest. God, how he loves this job.

The gold watch on his left wrist vibrated violently until he lifted it up to answer. A small hologram of Nya appeared, her brows already furrowed. Such a worry wart. Kai rolled his eyes.

"Kai, Ultra-Violet is-"

Nya was pushed out of the way. Instead, blonde locks infiltrated the hologram. His bright green eyes were wide and full of worry. His lips looked red and swollen, as if he had been biting them—a habit the kid had developed when he's stressed. When you live with four guys for this many years, you tend to pick up on things nobody else would.
