My, oh my! Where the hell have I been? Between how unintentionally long this oneshot is and depression being a total bitch, it's taken me way longer to complete this than I was hoping. And it's still rushed and unedited! And this title's trash! Regardless, I hope it's enjoyable nonetheless. I can't make promises that I won't take another month; I can try, but that's about it 😅

"Alright. Everything's set up downstairs; how's it lookin' out there?"

"About the same...we've still got time."

Yuri sat quietly in a wooden chair in the living room, worriedly staring out of the window in front of her. The sun was shining through a partially cloudy sky, but Yuri knew it would not stay that way for long. Right now, she and Natsuki were scrambling to hunker down and gather supplies, prepared to hide away in the basement of Yuri's home. The sunny sky was merely a prelude to the hurricane that was getting ready to viciously bear down on their hometown, a calm before the incoming storm.

One thing that Yuri never really told anyone about was a crippling fear of natural disasters. Of course, as her girlfriend, Natsuki was vaguely aware of Yuri's fear, but not even she knew the full extent of it. The only person who really knew everything was Kaitlyn, only because there was nothing about her little cousin that she didn't know. The sight and sound of rain was very soothing to Yuri, even when mixed with the occasional roll of thunder. However, once the thunder started pounding, the rain started pouring, and the wind started howling, there was this intense feeling of danger that would leave Yuri breathless and paralyzed. She had no idea where this fear could have come from; she hadn't had any experiences bad enough to warrant such terror. Yet here she was, horrified out of her wits. At least she was in the comfort of her home, and at least she was here with Natsuki and Honey.

The girls had made the decision to stay in town and brave the storm together at home. Neither of them had found the idea of moving to a crowded, messy shelter to be a good idea; both of them, especially Yuri, experienced extreme discomfort amidst large crowds of people, and the nearest shelter was hours away anyways. Natsuki didn't have family out of town that they could turn to, and Yuri's parents, through no fault of their own, weren't able to bring the girls out of the country to stay with them. It wasn't exactly the best hand of cards to be dealt, but neither minded hunkering down at Yuri's house; her basement fortunately doubled as a storm shelter, so they would be protected, and the house was a much calmer and more comfortable environment.

"I'm bored," Natsuki yawned, breaking Yuri out of her train of thought.

"H-How could you be bored at a time like this?" Yuri asked incredulously, her familiar stutter returning. "A-Are you not scared o-or stressed about any of this?"

"Oh, I'm stressed to hell," Natsuki assured with a shrug. "But right now...we're pretty much set. There's not really anything to do except wait for Mother Nature to throw her temper tantrum."

Despite herself, Yuri snickered. "'Temper tantrum...' Honestly, Natsuki, I'm convinced that you are the only person that could talk about an incoming hurricane in a way that would make me laugh."

"Just trying to ease the tension," Natsuki chuckled. "Did it work?"

"It did; I really appreciate it."

"Well, we're pretty loaded on snacks and food right now, but I kinda feel like making something else," Natsuki said. "After all, who knows what the power situation is gonna be in a few hours?
