Chapter 3

Austin's POV

One week later

I woke up with Avery in my arms. I smiled. She would always say that she was to scared to sleep alone. I kissed aher forehead as she was asleep. She's beautiful when she's asleep.

She stirred in her sleep and soon woke up. She fluttered her eyes open. "Good morning ." I said. She just smiled. "Come on we gotta get up." I said.

"But we're on spring break ! I wanna stay asleep." She said. I laughed and nodded. I didn't move hey don't judge I wanted to stay in bed as well.

She moved closer to me. Her shirt rose up a bit and I saw the multiple bruises on her back. I traced the little scars gently with my finger rubbing her back. I could never imagine being put threw the pain she's been threw.

It must be horrible. I noticed her drifting off back to sleep. I waited till I knew she was asleep. When I knew, I got up and went downstairs. I grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it. Destiny came in there.

"Hey." She said. "Hey." I replied. "Austin ?" She asked. "Yeah ?" I said. "Have you ever wondered if maybe, Oh I don't know, you did something wrong, but you don't know what ?" She said.

"Not really why ?" I asked. "Nothing." She said. "Destiny ? Is there something your not telling me ?" I said worried.

"No I'm fine." She said and walked out. Weird. I walked into the living room to see Katie and Gabe laughing. "What are you two love birds up to ?" I asked. "Ewwwwww" they both shouted at once. I laughed and sat next to Gabe.

Katie went over to me. "Can I ask you something ?" She asked. "Of course." I said. "Will it be better here ? Will daddy beat Avery again ?" She asked. I wanted to cry because of this. She's 10 years old for crying out loud ! "It'll be much better. Daddy won't hurt neither of you." I said. Lets hope.

She put her arms around me and gave me a hug. She was so skinny. "Why did daddy do it ?" She asked. "I don't know." I said. I noticed Gabe got up and went in his room. He probably couldn't bare to hear it.

"Lets watch some T.V" I said. "Okay." Katie said. Katie sat next to me. My other little brother, Allen, came down stairs. He was 14, and well didn't pay attention much. "Hey, Allen." I said. "Hey." He mumbles, not looking up from his phone.

I decided to go wake up Avery so, I went upstairs and woke her up. She got out of bed and stretched. She smiled at me and I returned the smile. "Hungry ? Um.... We have some stuff to eat." I said.

"Austin, you don't have to do this." She said. "Do what ?" I asked. "This. I mean living here. I appreciate it but you all have enough to take care of." She said.

"Avery, my dad doesn't mind you here." I said. "I don't like causing you trouble...." She said and dragged off. "Your not causing us trouble !" I screamed. "O-Ok." She stuttered. I felt really bad. "Sorry." I saidI "Its fine." She said.

Without another word, she went downstairs. I followed her. "Guys I think I'm gonna go for a walk. Do you mind watching Katie ?" Avery said. "Yeah." I said.

Avery's POV

I needed some fresh air. I've never heard Austin scream. I opened the door and went outside. I felt the sunlight hit my face and it felt awesome.

I walked around just looking at things. I wish I had a camera, its so beautiful here. I just want to take a picture of it all. I felt like someone was following me. I turned around and saw a black van. I was about to run home when someone grabbed me.

I started struggling screaming, and doing everything I can to attract attention. It was too late. Before I knew it I was in the back of a van. I noticed there was a bunch of guys. And one of them was my father. "Let me go !" I screamed.
