*Phone rings*
I fished my phone out of my jeans pocket and found it was Veronica.
"Be back" I said turning my head towards Adrian who I found was already looking at my side as my phone was ringing in my hand.
He nodded his head slowly in response.
Standing up, I dust the soil off my butt and strode towards the jeep to take her call alone.
After all, anything can come out of her mouth while talking and I can't be sure of what will come out of mine while answering to that. So it is better to go away and conversate.
"Hey, partner!" She said loudly on the phone that I had to take it away from my ears so that my eardrums would not break.
"Your brain is not broken, no? Why all the fuss?" I asked with annoyance.
"Where are you?" She questioned ignoring my annoyance totally.
"I'm out... out of the city right now. Why?" I leaned my butt on the bonnet and crossed a leg over the other while my elbow plopped on the other arm resting on my stomach.
"Oh, I thought you would be home by now, actually our dresses have arrived at my house, so I was calling for you to come and check for yourself the fittings."
"Ah, right, the designer did call and informed me in the morning." I brought my phone down to look for the time, it was 7:32 PM. I continued, "Okay, I'll be back in an hour and a half. I'm with somebody right now."
I looked over the glassy still lake at the sky which was slowly getting darker.
"Who?" She asked with needless curiosity.
"Mr Lopez," I mumbled and bit my thumbnail between my teeth as I was feeling reluctant.
"Who is that?" She interrogated, her questions reeking nosiness.
"Foreign entrepreneur," I answered, trying to sound uninterested.
My gaze shifted to him as he stood up, turned and strode on his long legs slowly towards where I was standing.
"How old is he?"
Around 30?
"You can't be serious?" I scolded her.
"Is he too old?" She still goes on.
"Pretty young to be called that," I mumbled looking at his walking figure. He brushed a hand in his hair.
He seems to do that a lot.
"Is he handsome?" She again shamelessly questioned. I can tell by her voice that she was grinning right now.
He was now right in front of me for me to talk with my friend in peace and bore his intoxicating eyes on me.
"I'll be back in an hour, bye." Telling her that I hang up on her.
Putting my phone back in my pocket I took out the key and held in my hands.
I look up at his face as he was staring down at me. His expression unreadable. He was just looking at my face with a blank face.
It was dangerous how he didn't let me see through his face. I was feeling impatient under his intense gaze.
"It's gotten dark now we should head back now." He stated, his voice held that authoritative tone in it which send an unexpected chill down my spine.
I was yearning to understand what was it that was bewitching me towards him.
The sun was down long ago but now it had also gotten dark which isn't really safe to be in here.
