After he asked if I wanted to walk with him I knew I had to be cool. I just smiled and nodded.
After a while, he asked me if I was new. I told him where I was from and a couple stories from where I lived. I reached my classroom but I didn't want to leave him.
"This is my class!" I said to Hayes. Our eyes met one last time, and then he said bye. I watched him walk away. I thought I would never talk to him again.
All if the sudden he turned back around and walked back towards me.
"Will you sit with me at lunch?" he questioned.
My heart started beating and I had no words. I simply said yes and walked into the classroom. "What a great first day!" I thought to myself.
