Sasuke was never one to chase a girl.
The dark-haired boy sat restlessly in his third period class. His teacher continued lecturing the students on pop culture and bringing up examples from old stories. The school year had come upon them much sooner than he'd wished.
"-The victim usually throws up or coughs up flower petals."
Sasuke's head snapped up upon hearing his teachers words, earning him a curious look from the green-eyed girl beside him. He read what was written on the board, catching the word 'Hanahaki'.
"This disease was often used to showcase unrequited love," His teacher continued. "The only cures were having your lover return your feelings, or surgery to remove it."
"However, once removing the cause of the disease, the victim will lose all romantic feelings towards their lover. It will be impossible to regain them."
Sasuke leaned back a bit, thoughts racing through his head. Suddenly a question popped up into his mind, causing his heart to beat faster than usual. The stoic Uchiha, who never willingly participated in class discussions, raised his hand.
"Yes, Sasuke?"
"Can the disease kill you?" He asked, hesitant to hear the answer.
His teacher nodded, and Sasuke felt his heart drop. "The disease typically lasts for three months at the longest, before suffocating the victim."
He nodded, acknowledging his teacher's answer. The teacher smiled, before continuing on with examples of stories which used this specific disease.
"I never thought you'd be interested in Hanahaki." Sakura teased.
Sasuke turned to look at her, but was not able to meet her eyes. "It just seems interesting." He mumbled.
Sakura slowly nodded, stealing one last glance at her friend before facing their teacher once again.
