I hooked my cross bow onto my back pack while I continued to rummage through the stuff. When all of a sudden I heard the huge bang of the front door slam open and my little brother scream, running into the room I was in and hid behind me. Someone or something has found us, at that moment all I could hear was the loud thumps of my heart beat and feel the grip of my brother's tight hold on the leg of my pants.

Without even thinking I shouted "Hurry hide in that cabinet!" to my little brother. Before I could reach back for my cross- bow the corpse was already a couple feet away from me, moving as fast as it could run. Not having my cross bow in hand I instantly turned to run away from the cabinet my brother was hiding in, it grasped onto my backpack, ripping it off my back as I ran the opposite direction. I ran into the next room which of course to my luck, was a dead end. The zombie came running in after me.

All my weapons were still in my back pack, all I had on me was small kitchen knife which wouldn't do anything but slow him down. I remember at that moment I was thinking to myself how my little brother would be left all alone, to fend for himself and it was all going to end right there and then.

I clenched my eyes shut waiting for it to come, it seemed like I shut out the entire world around me, all I could hear was the memory of my parents screams, telling me to run, as fast as I could, to leave them and to keep my little brother and I alive. I realized that I wasn't ready to die yet, as much as I wanted to see my parents again, I had a little brother to take care of, but I still prepared for it, because there was nothing else I could do, even if I wanted.
